Though the change has taken some by surprise, it seems as though the game series that was once known as FIFA has taken to its new name pretty well.
EA FC 24 is kicking off a new era for the video game world's prime soccer export, and as women have joined the game as a part of Ultimate Team, the sporting title has finally reached its final form as the perfect football gaming experience for many.
Interestingly, it looks as though EA has taken pretty firmly to this new attitude, as right now, you can't buy any FIFA games. Like, at all.
EA Sports has pulled every FIFA game from stores
It looks like EA is going a bit overboard with dedicating to its series' new name, as you can no longer buy any FIFA game on any digital storefront. Worse yet, it's come without any warning.
The entire back catalogue, including FIFA 23, has been stripped from the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Nintendo eShop. Links on the EA Sports website haven't yet been updated, pointing players to dead links.
This seems like a massive overreaction from EA Sports to the new era of EA FC if that truly is the reason for all of these delistings - but there is a way for you to play the games without having to buy them directly from the digital storefronts.
You can still play FIFA 23
If you're desperate to peek into the past of the franchise, then don't fret too quickly - EA has left FIFA 22 and FIFA 23 available to users who want to play them on EA Play. It's a pretty cheeky move from EA, but at the very least, the games haven't been entirely scrubbed from existence.
Of course, we're in a whole new arena when it comes to FIFA/EA FC. Still, this is a move that's bound to rub players the wrong way. You can still play the games you have installed, but if you don't already own them, you're out of luck. The future of EA FC has been forced, whether you like it or not.
