It's never been confirmed, but the grand "scripting" conspiracy has never been outright disproven, either.

For years, FIFA (and now FC 24) players have felt the wrath of unjust results, where the opposition has knicked a 1-0 winner from under their noses despite having faced 25 shots on target, all saved by an Inspector Gadget-like goalie.

But after nearly 30 years of fluke losses, EA FC fans have finally snapped, and are now starting a social media campaign to boycott the series.

'Scripting' clips kickstart '#boycottEA' campaign

This debate has been had a million times, but a handful of viral videos in the last three days have now pushed players over the edge.

The first game was on May 12, when "Just_Lavesh" posted a clip of his Team of the Season Konate, jerking his leg away from the ball to concede an added-time winner despite having been 4-1 up earlier in the game.

"#boycottEA Rigging packs like they rig video games. Was winning 4-1 only to lose and concede to this bs," said the player. A second clip soon followed when TikTok user "j45sall" showed his opposition scoring a 90th-minute winner, too.

What seemed like a legit goal was quickly analysed to be the conspicuous scripting at play, as Van Persie broke his ankles to ensure his foot stayed onside before miraculously slotting the ball home.

"Hurts my soul knowing how far this game has plummeted," they said. Other clips of likeminded glitches and twitches that have led to late winners have also surfaced this week, and #boycottEA has now surpassed a whipping 4,500 tweets on Twitter.

It's not just Ultimate Team, either. Other players have shared Pro Clubs clips in which the game completely ignores the offside rule. FC 24 has often been criticised as having some of the worst quality of gameplay that the series has released yet, as an abundance of glitches have stunted this lavish rebrand.
