Much like everything in Stardew Valley, changing your appearance is quite an involved process with a few different steps. If you’ve been playing the game with the same character since the beginning, you’re going to need to know how to do it - few games can boast as dedicated a fan base for this long after its initial release.

The biggest problem with this is barely anyone playing is going to look the same as they did eight years ago, hence why changing your look is so important in the game. Below, I’ve outlined how to freshen up your appearance, as well as the full process and how much it costs to do so.

Changing your appearance in Stardew Valley explained

Before changing your appearance, you’re going to need to make sure you're besties with the Wizard, getting your friendship up to four hearts to unlock this bonus. Fortunately, the Wizard is pretty much always in the same place making building this relationship a lot simpler than with some of the other characters like Penny or Sebastian

You can find the Wizard on the western section of the map, as shown above, in his house. You may have to gander around the house a bit because it's a fair-sized property and there are a few rooms he can be in. Once you get your friendship up to four hearts, here’s how to change your appearance:

  • He’ll give you access to his basement in the tower
  • Talk to the Shrine of Illusions statue in the basement room
  • Pay 500g and you can change your appearance
  • You can also change the appearance of your pet here as well

If you’re wondering how to improve your relationship with Magnus I’ve covered that below too.

If you give Magnus the above gifts you should be boys in no time, and then before you know it you and your cat can have a nice new look. For more guides check out our Stardew Valley homepage where we have already covered where to find the bookseller, how to get Hardwood and what green rain does in the game.
