As interest in 2022's Call of Duty entry heats up, details on the Modern Warfare 2 Killstreaks have leaked early. Killstreaks are staples of the Call of Duty franchise, serving as powerful rewards for those capable of building up an extended stretch of eliminations. At first glance, it appears that Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) will feature both original and throwback Killstreaks. So, without further ado, let's go over what sort of Modern Warfare 2 Killstreaks await us.

Confirmed Modern Warfare 2 Killstreaks

Call of Duty data miner, Reality, busted into the Warzone Mobile game files, and surprisingly uncovered heaps of information about Modern Warfare 2. Among the leaks was confirmation of a few Killstreaks set to appear in the upcoming MW2 release.

The list of confirmed Modern Warfare 2 Killstreaks is as follows:

UAV (4 Kills)

The classic Call of Duty UAV. This Modern Warfare 2 Killstreak will reveal enemies on the minimap as red dots for a limited time.

Smoke Airdrop (4 Kills)

Early speculation is that this MW2 Killstreak will function like a Care Package or Weapon Drop. After securing four kills in a row, players can call down a crate of random goodies to assist in their war efforts.

Fuel Bomb (5 Kills)

The iconic Predator Missile has been reimagined in Modern Warfare 2 as the Fuel Bomb. Remotely control an Air-to-Ground Missile as it descends toward the battlefield.

Cluster Spike (5 Kills)

Based on the Cluster Spike's icon, it's speculated that this MW2 Killstreak will work like the Intelligent Munitions System (I.M.S.) from past Call of Duty titles.

The I.M.S. is an anti-personnel explosive device similar to the Bouncing Betty. This Killstreak deploys explosive charges at any enemies that wander inside its targeting radius.

Thermobaric Strike (7 Kills)

The Thermobaric Strike is a modern-day version of the Napalm Strike. Unleash a barrage of incendiary explosives atop your opponents.

While these are the only confirmed Modern Warfare 2 Killstreaks so far, expect far more to come out as we get closer to the Modern Warfare 2 beta and official release date. We know Modern Warfare 2 is an ode to the 2009 entry, so don't be surprised to see returning favourites like the Tactical Nuke.

Modern Warfare 2 Killstreaks: What About Scorestreaks?

Every year or two, Call of Duty bounces back and forth between Killstreaks and Scorestreaks. The names are self-explanatory: Killstreaks are awarded for consecutive kills, while Scorestreaks are earned by building up your score.

Modern Warfare 2 will follow in the footsteps of Call of Duty: Vanguard by implementing Killstreaks. The last Call of Duty title to feature Scorestreaks was Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Perhaps Call of Duty 2024 will bring back Scorestreaks once again?

That's everything we know so far about Modern Warfare 2 Killstreaks. We'll update this guide as more information on the Modern Warfare 2 Killstreaks is revealed.
