The Modern Warfare 2 beta dates are fast approaching, as is the ability to register for the pre-release period. The upcoming reimagining of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is set to be the nineteenth mainline game in the series and a continuation of MW 2019. So if you're looking to get early access and take part in the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 beta, here's all the information you will need.

What Is The Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Beta?

The release date for Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was recently announced as October 28, giving players an earlier entry than we usually see for Call of Duty releases and allowing them to jump into the action and access the new Warzone map set to be released.

Like the previous entries from recent years, there will be a period of open beta exclusively for preorder customers before release so players can get to grips with the game. This will also allow Infinity Ward to iron out any issues that players run into and work on last-minute balancing.

Modern Warafre 2 Beta Dates

For devoted players looking to take advantage of the Modern Warfare 2 beta dates by racking up some serious play-time on the multiplayer game before its full release, you'll be happy to know that there will be two full weekends of beta action.

The catch? Only one weekend will be open to all players. The other, will be PlayStation Exlcusive. The official Modern Warfare 2 beta dates are as follows:

Weekend 1 (PlayStation Exclusive):

  • September 16 - 17: Early Acces
  • September 18 - 20: Open Beta

Weekend 2 (Crossplay):

Early access is given to player who has either received a code through giveaways or watching the CDL broadcast, or has pre-odered Modern Warfare 2, either digitally or through a retailer.

Modern Warafre 2 Beta Platforms

The beta will be open to all players on the platforms that MW2 is set to release on, which currently include the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

If you have been granted a code through pre-ordering the cross-gen bundle. it doesn't matter which platform you choose to download the beta on, as you'll be able to play on both the new-gen and last-gen consoles.

Modern Warfare 2 Beta Maps And Game Modes

The Modern Warfare 2 beta will be a multiplayer moshpit, not tno be confused with the full-game Early Access which is Campaign only.

With this in mind, we've already been told that the Marina Bay Grand Prix will be a 6v6 multiplayer map featured in the list of Modern Warfare 2 beta maps. Based on the Singaporean Formula 1 circuit, players will be able to unload their ammo into the enemy team while cars whizz around the outskirts.

Other maps and game modes have yet to be confirmed, although it's likely that the standard Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, and Domination will make up the bulk of the game play. We might even get to play on the Farm 18 Shoot-house lookalike.

That's our breakdown of how to access the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta, and now you know which edition of the game to preorder for early access, along with a general timeframe for when the open beta will occur.
