There are four new maps at the launch of Season 5, with one coming later, these are:

  • Punta Mar
  • Strike
  • Lounge
  • Canal
  • DRC - Zone 1

Punta Mar

Punta Mar is a brand-new map based in a recently evacuated tourist attraction overlooking a South American beach.

Strike

Strike is a remade map from COD 4, letting players fight in the middle of a middle eastern city.

Lounge

Lounge is a Gunfight map set in a high-scale club lounge, with side corridors and a balcony overlooking the main floor.

Canal

Another Gunfight map, Canal takes place around a brewery along the water in Amsterdam, with tight cobbled streets and cellars below the stone.

DRC - Zone 1

A map coming during mid-season, DRC - Zone 1 is an area from Building 21 in the Warzone mode, letting players fight in a visitors centre.

Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 Season 5 patch notes: Modes

There are four new game modes as part of Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 Season 5. These are:

  • Havoc
  • Big Capture the Flag
  • Gunfight variants
  • Faceoff

Havoc

Havoc is a brand-new game mode that's inspired by classic arena shooters and roguelikes, with each game having enhancement modifiers that make each one different.

It's based on TDM but with a lack of perks, killstreaks, and field upgrades. Every time a team is the first to reach a multiple of 12 kills, a new modifier from a preset list is added for everyone, making the game snowball as it goes on.

Big Capture the Flag

This is your standard Capture the Flag with more players, seeing teams of 20 battle it out to steal each other's flags.

Gunfight variants

There will be three variants of Gunfight this season, starting with Gunfight Custom to begin with, where the weapons you use are based on your loadouts.

Gunfight Snipers is next at the mid-season mark, which has you tool up with a sniper or marksman rifle for long-range skirmishes.

Finally, there is Armored Gunfight sometime in Season 5, which is like the standard version, except everyone has armour equipped.

Faceoff

Faceoff is a quick 4v4 mode that takes place on Gunfight maps.

FR Avancer

A quick-fire rate assault rifle with great manoeuvrability, perfect for mid-range engagements.

Carrack .300

A semi-automatic sniper with a quick fire rate, the Carrack .300 is a unique sniper designed for handling and stability while moving.

M13C

The M13C is another AR, set to come during the mid-season point.

The rest of the new weapons will be revealed later in the season.

The Vondel Champion's Quest is a new quest coming at the start of Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 Season 5.

To take part in the quest, you will need to be on a winning streak of five in a row on Mini Battle Royale matches. You'll then get the chance to begin the quest and collect a series of elements, though some changes have made it harder, as you can no longer drop elements to pick them up later.

Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 Season 5 patch notes: Vehicles

Two new vehicles will be joining the Warzone 2 lineup, these are:

  • MRAP
  • Dirt Bike

MRAP

The MRAP is a mine-resistant vehicle designed to be safe from ambushes and heavy weapons. It's a great way to safely travel the map and get to where you need to go. It's set to be rare, meaning you should take advantage whenever you see it.

Dirt Bike

For those who need a nimble and rapid mode of transportation, the Dirt Bike is here for those with the ability to snake through the tight alleys, or the need to quickly dash across open ground.
