The Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer maps are diverse battlefields with new additions and returning favourites — all packaged together. Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Maps: Core Maps
Core Maps are the traditional Call of Duty multiplayer experience. These maps are usually designed for 6v6 battles and game modes like Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, and Hardpoint.
It's reported that there will be a total of 16 Modern Warafre 2 multiplayer maps that will be available at launch, tailor-made for 6v6 gameplay. However, only two have been confirmed so far, while there have been leaks showing off a few more.
Taking much inspiration from Modern Warfare's (2019) Shoothouse, Farm 18 has been revealed as a relatively small map that features a two-story centrepiece building surrounded by slim yet long lanes of sight around the sides.
The Modern Warfare 2 map was revealed by the developers alongside a first glimpse at any multiplayer gameplay, showing off some questionable recoil patterns.
Marina Bay Grand Prix
Based on the real-life Singaporean Grand Prix circuit, Marina Bay was the first multiplayer map to have been announced and ultimately the first which will be played on, given it will feature in the Modern Warfare 2 beta.
With F1 cars whizzing around the conflict zone, the Marina Bay map will feature stationary vehicles to use as cover, although there's no sign of a Lewis Hamilton bundle just yet.
Museum is set in Spain and features a classic four-lane layout. The action takes place around a massive multi-level museum. The balconies and windows will offer unique sightlines, while the landscaping in the courtyard provides cover to those manoeuvring outside of the museum itself.
Oilfield's name says it all. This Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer map is centred around an oil refinery somewhere out in the desert. Based on the single leaked image, Oilfield looks to be a relatively open map with little in the way of cover.

Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Maps: Large-Scale Maps
Modern Warfare 2's large-scale maps are designed for large player counts and typically feature vehicles. You'll find these maps in playlists like Ground War.
All that we know about Sa’id is that the action will take place in an urban environment.
Sariff Bay will showcase Modern Warfare 2's new swimming mechanics. This map is set in a fishing village surrounded by water.
Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Maps: Returning Favourites
The name Modern Warfare 2 itself is a blast from the past, and with that, this 2022 reimagining will feature a slew of returning fan-favourite maps from the Call of Duty franchise.
