As is tradition, the arrival of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 brings new weapons to the game, while also putting some away in the vault.

Fortnite is a constantly evolving game, new content must come in and old content must go out. Weapons are a big part of that, as changing them up goes a long way to refreshing the game with each update.

New weapons in Chapter 5 Season 2

A host of Olympian-themed weapons have been added with the new season. Each of these new weapons and powers is themed after a mythical being, like Zeus' lightning or Cerberus'... shotgun. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was what the three-headed dog used to guard the gate to Tartarus.

Each of the new weapons and powers is listed below, along with details on how you can grab the Mythic variations:

Weapon How to get & Mythic details
Thunderbolt of Zeus Always Mythic, found across the island or from defeating Zeus
Gatekeeper Shotgun Found across the island, Mythic by defeating Cerberus
Harbinger SMG Found across the island, Mythic by defeating Hades
Huntress DMR Found across the island, Mythic by defeating Zeus
Warforged Assault Rifle Found across the island, Mythic by defeating Ares
Wings of Icarus Always Mythic, found across the island

All of these weapons and powers can appear anywhere on the island, but as you can see you must defeat the associated deity in order to get the mythic version of the weapons.

There is a third power called the Chains of Hades, but that won't be available until later in the season. From the trailer, it seems that this power will allow you to pull enemies towards you, before smacking them with the chain to finish them off.

Weapons returning and leaving in Season 2

To keep things fresh, some weapons will be sticking around from the previous season, while others will be vaulted. If one of your favourites is on the chopping block don't worry, as it might not be gone forever.

Staying in Season 2

  • Hammer Pump Shotgun
  • Frenzy Auto Shotgun
  • Nemesis AR
  • Thunder Burst SMG
  • Reaper Sniper Rifle
  • Ranger Pistol

Leaving in Season 2

  • Crash Pad Jr.
  • Grapple Blade
  • Ballistic Shield
  • EMP Stealth Camo & Cardboard Box
  • Lock On Pistol
  • Hyper SMG
  • Striker AR
  • Enforcer AR
  • Anvil Rocket Launcher
  • Bananas
  • Snowball Launcher
  • Pizza Party

Some of the weapons and items that are heading into the vault are from crossovers like Solid Snake or the Ninja Turtles. These are likely to be gone from the game for the foreseeable future, but the other weapons could well reappear in future seasons.
