The Wings of Icarus is a new Mythic item added in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 that lets you take to the skies to traverse the Island - or launch a surprise attack on your opponents.

Iconic characters from Greek mythology have landed on the Fortnite map, and they've brought new Mythic items with them. You can unleash electricity with the Thunderbolt of Zeus, or if you're looking for a new way to get around in the game, then go for the Wings of Icarus.

How to get the Wings of Icarus in Fortnite

The easiest way to find the Wings of Icarus is to search the golden Olympus Chests at one of the new locations: Mount Olympus, Brawler's Battleground, The Underworld, or Grim Gate.

You can also get the Wings of Icarus around the Island as floor loot, inside Supply Drops, inside Chests, or bt defeating another player who has them - although your chances of finding them this way are a bit lower.

Despite being a Mythic item, I've actually found the Wings of Icarus to be quite a common drop in the game, so it shouldn't take you too long to find them!

Unlike the Thunderbolt of Zeus, which can be obtained by defeating Zeus himself, there's currently no boss that drops the Wings of Icarus, so finding them will mostly be down to luck and plenty of Chest opening.

Once you've got the Wings of Icarus in your inventory, you need to equip them and press the 'shoot' button (R2 on PlayStation) to begin flying. You can tap the shoot button again to boost or the jump button (X on PlayStation) to ascend higher into the sky.

You can also unleash a dive bomb attack when you're in the air to deal some damage to any opponents unlucky enough to be caught in your radius. To do this, simply aim where you want to land and tap the aim button (L2 on PlayStation). I found this quite hard to aim so you might want to practice a little bit first!

The Wings of Icarus have a 300 charge limit which slowly goes down as you fly. Boosting makes this charge go down faster, so only use it when you really need to! The Wings of Icarus also burn up after a short time, which means you can only fly for a small amount of time before having to land.
