How to get free skins in Fortnite as of Chapter 5 Season 2
Skins and outfits are a great way to show off your personal style in Fortnite, and while most of them need to be paid for, there are a couple of free skins you can pick up as well.
We all love free items. Whether you already have dozens of rare skins and crossover outfits to choose from, or you're just starting out and need some new looks, here are all of the skins you can unlock in the game without spending a penny.
Free skins & how to get them
There are currently three free skins available in Fortnite following the expiry of the quest needed to unlock the Jackie skin on March 26, 2024:

Epic has said the Trailblazer Tai skin will be available during the "launch window" of LEGO Fortnite, although no specific date has been provided on this as of yet.
The Lina Scorch skin is part of the Blazin' Wheels Pack on the PlayStation Store. This pack is free for anyone with a PlayStation Plus subscription.

While the skins listed above are the only ones you can claim for free right now, the game occasionally throws out more freebies for players to claim via other methods so it's always worth keeping an eye out.
The biggest chance to get free skins is the Winterfest event that happens every December. During 2023's event, for example, players could get the Holiday Boxy and Winterfest Bushranger skins by opening free presents every day.
Aside from the Winterfest event, Epic Games occasionally hosts limited-time tournaments in Fortnite to celebrate collaborations, where the top-performing players will get the skin or matching cosmetics for free. You'll need skill to get them, but it's always worth trying!
