Red Dead Players Add Freddy Krueger To The Game
One, two, Arthur Morgan is coming for you. Proving that some crossovers are just meant to be, one plucky Red Dead player has just added Freddy Krueger to Red Dead Online. Swapping Springwood for Stillwater Creek, the A Nightmare on Elm Street slasher has found a new home.
The spooky season is well and truly upon us, and while you might expect to see Freddy as part of Epic Games' Fortnitemares 2021, he's more than welcome in Red Dead Online. Although Freddy has been off our screens since the abysmal movie reboot of 2010, there's still a lot of love for the striped serial killer.
Who put Freddy Krueger in Red Dead?
Posting on Reddit, u/HeySoloSoyYo shared their reimagining of Freddy Krueger. Even if he's without his signature razor glove, it's obvious this creation is a Western Freddy Krueger. The custom build doesn't manage to give Freddy his horrific burns (or even his red and green sweater), however, it's an impressive homage to him.
We never realised how well a cowboy crossover with Elm Street would work, but there we go. Other fans were suitably impressed, as they shared their thoughts. "Western Freddy is something I didn't know I needed, love this", wrote one. Another added, "Huh, never quite realized how Western Freddy Krueger actually looked. Sounds like an outlaw too. Krueger, the sharpest knife West of the Lannahechee."
What other Red Dead crossovers are there?
Of course, Freddy is no stranger to video games. As well as being a killer in Dead by Daylight, he was part of 2011's Mortal Kombat. Still, this is the first time we've seen him saddle up and ride into town for RDO.
Even if Red Dead isn't quite up there with Rockstar's other big hitter, Grand Theft Auto, the creative community still has a lot of fun with it. We recently covered a potential Back to the Future nod, but we're not sure whether it was just a glitch.
Elsewhere, we've seen some kooky character builds in the same vein as the Freddy one. One Peaky Blinders fan added Tommy Shelby, while another created a terrifying live-action version of Homer Simpson. Personally, we can imagine a cowboy-inspired Freddy kill in the proposed Elm Street reboot. In the meantime, have fun playing as him in Red Dead Online.
