Red Dead Redemption Fan Creates Peaky Blinders Crossover
By order of the Peaky Blinders, there's a new gang in charge in the Old West. Dutch Van der Linde had better watch his back because the Shelby boys are here, and they mean business. While the open plains of the Red Dead series are a far cry from the cramped streets of 20th Century Birmingham, these two worlds have collided in a big way.
We're no stranger to crossovers inside Red Dead, and with everything from Back to the Future to The Simpsons riding into town on a trusty steed, Peaky Blinders is the latest pop culture phenomenon to make its mark on Rockstar Games' acclaimed franchise. But who would win in a fight, Arthur Morgan or Arthur Shelby?
What is the Peaky Blinders and Red Dead crossover?
Despite the character customisation of Red Dead Redemption 2 being much more limited than Red Dead Online, that hasn't stopped one redditor crafting their own version of a Peaky Blinder. Here, they take protagonist Arthur Morgan and kit him out in some tailored clothing - aptly changing his name to Arthur Shelby.
For those who've watched the BBC's Peaky Blinders series, you'll admit this Red Dead creation is a doppelgänger for Paul Anderson's Arthur Shelby. In the show, Arthur is the oldest Shelby sibling and often serves as second in command to Cillian Murphy's Tommy Shelby.
Best yet, the Peaky Blinders and Red Dead crossover doesn't make the use of mods like so many PC games do. Other fans were impressed by the build, with one writing, "I’d love for Arthur to beat the sh*t out of Micah and follow it up with 'You don’t f**k with the Peaky Blinders'".
Another added, "I legit scrolled by and thought 'Oh cool, it's Arthur' but had to double take when I saw the sub name. Great effort", while a third joked, "Arthur what on earth are you doing in America. Get back to Birmingham. Sincerely, Thomas Shelby."
Could a Peaky Blinders and Red Dead crossover really have worked?
Unfortunately, the Arthurs probably wouldn't have crossed paths. Peaky Blinders Season 1 was set in 1919, while even Red Dead Redemption took place in 1911. Red Dead Redemption 2 was a prequel that started in 1901, so unless Arthur Morgan fancies beating up a kid, the Shelby clan wasn't going to be on his radar.
In real-life, the Birmingham street gang known as the Peaky Blinders operated from the late-1800s until 1910, so could've crossed paths with Arthur or John Marston. While we continue coming up with our own Peaky Blinders x Red Dead fan-fiction, why not try out making your own gang of Brummie gangsters and tip your hat to these worlds of cowboys and criminals?
