Red Dead Player Creates Homer Simpson In-Game
Rockstar Games' beloved Red Dead has just changed its name to Yellow Dead, as one clever creator has just added Homer Simpson to the developer's Red Dead Online. We've seen some great character creations since the online multiplayer launched in 2018, however, seeing this donut-loving dunce is one of the best.
Just like the engaging and immersive world of Red Dead Redemption 2, RDO has brilliantly captured Rockstar's take on the wild West and the various pilferers, prostitutes, and pioneers of the age. Like any good modern game, character customisation is key - meaning your only limit is your own imagination.
What does Homer Simpson look like in Red Dead?
Posting on Reddit, u/HeySoloSoYo used Red Dead Online's impressive creation engine to recreate Homer Simpson in all his glory. We've seen real-life imaginings of Homer before, but this one is easily the creepiest. It comes complete with Homer's beer belly, white shirt, and even his blue pants. Sadly, RDO's customisation doesn't allow for Homer's signature yellow skin, but you get the gist.
We aren't just confined to Homer's default look, though. In the post, u/HeySoloSoYo showed off a number of alternative wardrobe choices. As well as his iconic muumuu from 1995's "King-Size Homer", the OP even recreated the legendary Homer in the bushes meme. We've got to say, bravo!
Other redditors were equally impressed with this nod to America's favourite family. Someone wrote, "Disappearing into the bush. So perfect", while another added, "Man that is neat! I hope I run into you online one day". Other's saw it as pure nightmare fuel with another adding, "Nightmare homer. good work tho", and someone else saying, "I knew it's gonna be cursed. And FFS it is".
Could we see more of Homer Simpson in Red Dead?
Now that we've got Homer in Red Dead Online, let's see more of the famous family. RDO may have a lot of options, but we think Marge's blue bouffant and Bart's signature spikes might be a little harder to create than Homer. Then again, who wouldn't want to see Valentine turned into its very own Wild West version of Springfield?
Of course, The Simpsons in video games are nothing new. As well as the acclaimed Hit & Run being based on Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto, we recently saw how someone added a terrifying Simpsons mod to Resident Evil 7. Seeing Jack Baker swapped out for Homer Simpson delivered the crossover we never knew we needed.
Sony just gave us another reason to enjoy Red Dead Online, with the gaming giant removing the PlayStation Plus paywall for a limited time. Why don't you go and hunt down Red Dead Homer? While we wait for someone to realise the potential of an open-world Simpsons game, we're stuck playing as Homer in his muumuu in Red Dead Online.
