Epic Games is once again rolling out the creepy carpet, as this year's Fortnite Fortnitemares crawls its way out of the crypt. The first Fortnitemares had us jumping out of our skins in 2017, and since then, it's been a tradition of terror as we play trick or treat with the battle royale favourite.

Even though Fortnitemares is more of a family-friendly affair that doesn't lean into the blood and guts of Warzone's Haunting event, Epic makes the most of all things spooky. Although the developer hasn't made all of its plans official, a few tasty morsels have confirmed some "classic" monster skins.

Fortnitemares 2021 - What Skins Are Coming?

We're expecting all the usual Halloween revamps of Peely, Jonesy, and Raider, however, the latest Fortnite scoop claims we'll be adding some familiar faces from the realms of Universal Classic Monsters. Remembering the studio has the rights to everything from the Mummy to Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula to the Wolf Man, it could be a who's who of horror favourites.

The intel comes courtesy of Epic itself, when the developer unveiled everything coming to Fortnitemares 2021 in a lengthy blog. Epic's official description explained: "Want some reveals now? Iconic creatures include the Universal Pictures-inspired Frankenstein’s Monster and The Mummy, part of the Universal Monsters Set!

"Keep up with the card flip page and our social channels to see when they storm into the Item Shop. (The Mummy will also be lurching on the Island as a Character later in the month, trying to find his way home to the Underworld.)"

There's a tease that more classic monsters could be on the way, so we're fully expecting to see some form of Dracula or a Bride of Frankenstein. Hopefully, Fortnitemares 2021's take on the Universal Classic Monsters will fare a little better than the supposed Dark Universe film franchise that fell apart following the abysmal Tom Cruise movie.

Fortnitemares 2021 - What Else Is Coming?

More than just being a skin, the arrival of the Mummy will also see that bandaged brute setting up camp as a new NPC. Added to this, there's a pyramid POI for you to explore in your best Mummy or Lara Croft outfit. In terms of weapons, there are Dual Fiend Hunters alongside the return of the Fiend Hunter Crossbow - meaning the walking dead don't stand a change.

Of course, it's not just skins and weapons that will have us shuffling onto the map in October. Remembering that last year's event was titled "Midas' Revenge", there will be a cube-themed storyline. With the tease of a beloved LTM making its return, it's gotta be Horde Rush.

The LTM previously made a mark on Fortnite in 2019. In August, we reported that Horde Rush was planned for this year's Fortnitemares, and while Epic still hasn't confirmed it as gospel, don't act too surprised when it's made official. Fortnitemares 2021 is currently underway and will span all of October - until it's banished back to the depths of hell on November 1.
