While Rocksteady was onto a winner with the Arkham games, it sometimes got a little lonely out there in Gotham City. From Arkham Asylum through to Arkham Knight, the developer's ambitions grew, and so did the map. We got other playable characters like Catwoman and Nightwing, but they were only fleeting.

Whereas the Arkhamverse largely put us in the cape and cowl, you'll see a different side of the story in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. With a long-awaited return to this world, KTJL is Rocksteady's next big thing, and as the name suggests, you'll be able to play as some members of Task Force X.

King Shark looks like the GOAT of Kill the Justice League

Even though obscure members like Zebra-Man, Ambush Bug, and Chemanda Waller (look her up) are sitting this one out, the core four of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark are all here. Not that we needed to tell you, but there's already a firm favourite.

In our latest dive behind the scenes of Kill the Justice League, Rocksteady has gifted us a bloody trailer of King Shark gameplay. Our first extended look confirmed most of the team had gotten their new abilities by stealing tech from the Hall of Justice, whereas King Shark decided to stick with his brute strength.

Acting like a nautical tank, King Shark makes light work of the various grunts. Better yet, it looks like Nanaue has an impressive arsenal of a mini-gun, sickles, and a sharp-shooting SMG. If that wasn't enough, he has a massive machete and what looks like some powerful gauntlets.

Despite this focus on King Shark, Rocksteady isn't willing to tell us much more about what King Shark has going on. It's clear he has some other abilities going on under the hood, which is a clever way to keep watching these developer videos to find out more.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League players can't get enough of King Shark

As well as being hit by delays and complaints that Warner Bros. is squeezing us for every penny due to Kill the Justice League's live service credentials, there have been grumbles that Rocksteady has fallen from grace. Thankfully, all it took was a King Shark-centric trailer to restore faith in the studio.

Players love King Shark, with one writing, "King Shark looks amazing he’s one of my favourite characters in DC I can’t wait to play this game!" Another cheered, "King Shark is my boi" and a third said, "I call dibs on the shark." Even winning critics around, someone concluded, "Can't wait to play this game looks like a lot of fun."

As King Shark is teased as "one of the only creatures on Earth who can go toe to toe with Superman," we're expecting a pretty big boss battle between this toothy menace and the Man of Steel. Following a run of middling press, Rocksteady is on the marketing assault, so here's hoping Kill the Justice League will be another worthy entry in the Arkhamverse.
