Not to say that we're clutching at straws here, but with it being a decade since the last mainline Grand Theft Auto game, we're pretty famished. To make matters worse, we've been slowly drip-fed GTA 6 leaks for years, with Reddit threads regularly dishing out the weird and wonderful "trust me bro" spoilers.

When it comes to GTA games, there are three things you need to know. When is it coming, who will you be playing as, and where will it be set? Your guess is as good as ours for a GTA 6 release, we've already heard a lot about Lucia and Jason as the new leads, and as for locations, we've got our money on a familiar locale.

Rockstar could be teasing a Vice City return for GTA 6

Remember when Resident Evil cleverly called its eighth (VIII) game VILLage, it doesn't take a genius to figure out the VI in GTA VI could stand for Vice City. A return to these sun-soaked shores has been doing the rounds for years, and maybe we've all gone a little mad from the waiting, but Rockstar might've just teased it.

Over on Twitter, the GTA community is losing its collective mind, managing to convince itself that Rockstar has confirmed GTA 6's Vice City backdrop through a new line of merch. That's right, socks are now, apparently, dropping gaming spoilers.

The account GTATrailerCountdown pointed to Rockstar's new merch line. Among the new releases, there's a sticker that says "I ❤️ VC," which is a clear nod to the beloved Vice City, as well as some Vice City-themed socks. The internet was soon awash with theories on what this could mean, putting two and two together to make 12.

Amidst claims that the background colours are the same colours as GTA 6, someone else thinks they spotted Lucia in the background of the imagery. Not everyone was convinced, as someone else pointed to the Los Santos sticker (for GTA V), saying, "This don't mean sh*t."

Still, with Rockstar celebrating its 25th anniversary and swirling reports we're finally getting a GTA trailer at December 7's The Game Awards, the whole industry is on high alert for even the slightest reveal ahead of time.

Come on, it's got to be Vice City

At this point, we've heard so much about GTA 6 taking place in a modernised Vice City, we'd be pretty peeved if it isn't. We're also a big fan of the idea of heading off to multiple cities, but in terms of having Vice City as the main hub, it makes sense. It's no secret Vice City is held as one of the best GTA games of all time.

More than just whispers from darkened corners of the internet and tin foil teases that socks are spoiling the surprise, the massive September 2022 data breach pretty much spelt it out. The document that collated all the GTA leaks also featured numerous mentions of Vice City locales and brands.

While we're still holding out hope we could see an aged Tommy Vercetti in GTA 6, the truth is that the story could go anywhere. Way back when, we were all sold on the idea of the next game being set in South America. Still, you'll have to act surprised when Vice City is confirmed for GTA 6.
