Eden Hazard has retired from professional football.

The Belgian winger who played for Lille, Chelsea, and Real Madrid, was once defined as the most Messi-like player that we've seen since his Argentine counterpart broke onto the scene.

But after a faltered time at Real Madrid, Hazard has now hung up his boots, and now EA FC 24 players want the former FIFA poster boy honoured with a card that will highlight his legacy.

EA FC 24 fans want a Hazard Hero card

Hazard retires from football as a two-time FIFPRO Team of the Year player, and a legend of the Premier League, after eight seasons at Chelsea, where he won further individual accolades like PFA Player of the Year.

After announcing he will leave football, EA FC 24 fans took to Reddit and Twitter to say that he needs a Hero card for this year, or next year at least, so players can continue to revel in his skill.

"People saying he doesn't deserve a Hero have either forgotten how good he was on his day or haven't looked at the lineup of Heroes we currently have," one fan said on Reddit.

The Redditor also compared Hazard to the current batch of Heroes from the Premier League, with the ex-Chelsea man having a better legacy in the English football League than Crouch, Rosicky, Mascherano, Riise, Kanu, Cole, Kewell, and more.

"Hazard was head and shoulders above a good few of the heroes we currently have and had the following to justify having one with how Chelsea fans viewed him," they added.

Should Hazard be an Icon or a Hero in EA FC?

Some fans did argue that he deserves an Icon card, as one of the only players of this generation to be compared to Messi, season after season.

"Icon IMO. Ligue 1 Player of the Year, becoming the youngest player to win the award, won cup and league title (their first in 50+years). Iconic PL career, winning the league twice. Great World Cup in Russia '18 (silver ball). Just because he declined at Real Madrid does not take away all his achievements," one Redditor argued.

But others continued to fly the flag for Hero status instead, as they didn't want the batch of Icons to be watered down.

"Hero, but that's because I want icons to mean even more than some currently do. Icon = the best of the best. Hazard was very good, and was a hero of the premier league - so for me, he should be a hero," added another.

It's more likely that we'll get something more in tune with the End of an Era collection this year to honour Hazard, but for next year, he might be covered in the bronze of a FUT Hero.
