There is a whole collection of Factions and classes for you to enjoy in XDefiant, but the abilities can seem quite overwhelming to new players. XDefiant is a new free-to-play online arena shooter from Ubisoft, and it takes quite a lot of influence from other popular titles within its various Factions.

So, to find out all about the XDefiant abilities and factions, alongside an explanation of each of the individual classes, all you need to do is continue reading the rest of this guide below.

What are Factions & classes in XDefiant?

Factions in XDefiant are a form of classes, giving you four defined skills but not offering any restrictions in terms of weaponry.

There are five classes in XDefiant in total at the moment, and each of them offers a different style of play through the various skills on offer. You have your traditional healer and assault roles, but also more game-specific ones like Spy and Pyro.

One of the key parts of their design is the fact that they are each pulled from other popular Ubisoft titles, proving as an easter egg of sorts for fans of each respective game.

While you can succeed with any Faction or class in the game, you will want to ensure that you've chosen the right one for your playstyle and team, as that can so easily be the key to success.

Here is a full list of the five current XDefiant Factions and classes, alongside which game each one is sourced from:

Faction Class Type Original Game
Libertad Healer Far Cry
Phantoms Tank Ghost Recon
Cleaners Pyro The Division
Elechon Spy Splinter Cell
DedSec Hacker Watch Dogs

As you can see, there are some really exciting Factions on offer here in XDefiant, with each making full use of their respective game's key features. While we have seen someone like Sam Fisher make his way into R6 Siege, having an entire class dedicated to the espionage of Splinter Cell is a great route for fans of the series.

More collaborations could be planned for the future too, given the likes of Rainbow Six, Assassin's Creed, and Prince of Persia all serve as popular franchises that the developers have not yet added to XDefiant.
