Levelling up fast and gaining lots of XP is the key to unlocking many of the challenges, mastery weapon camos, and more in XDefiant - but it's certainly a task easier said than done in-game.

Quite a few players, myself included, are finding that it takes a bit longer to grind your way through the levels if you're just playing like you normally would - but thankfully there are some things you can do to speed up the process.

Best ways to level up fast

  • Complete Daily Challenges
  • Activate Double XP Tokens
  • Earn Medals
  • Play Occupy and Zone Control

You can typically do all four of these at the same time, maximising your XP gain and levelling up as fast as possible.

Completing Dailies

There are three new challenges for you to complete every single day, allowing you to earn a total of 22,500 XP if you complete all before they expire.

They aren't too difficult either, typically requiring you to complete a certain number of matches, and get kills in specific ways or with certain weapon types. I do find that I have to go out of my way to get all three - but this takes no longer than a game or two at most and is definitely worth it for the XP boost.

Double XP Tokens

While this is a bit of a catch, as it only applies to Weapon XP, that is thankfully the type that you'll want to boost as much as possible. These Weapon XP Boosters can be earned through the Battle Pass on both the free and premium tiers.

It isn't clear what percentage your XP is boosted by, but any boost is better than none! They do only last between 20 and 40 minutes though, so make sure that you'll be playing for the entire duration to make the most of your bonus.

Medals

Medals that you get for completing certain achievements in-game can also give you extra XP, even if just by a little bit.

Actions like longshots and point-blank kills give you a small XP boost on top of the existing amount that you get from the kills, so prioritising these types of eliminations can bump you up the ranks a lot easier.

Occupy & Zone Control

While not strictly giving any XP boosts, I've found that the Occupy and Zone Control game modes allowed me to gain the most experience through how they are played and the pacing of the games.

These two game modes force both teams to meet in specific, pre-determined locations, and can dramatically increase the number of kills you're able to get. While Domination is great for objective XP, I found that I always got more kills on the aforementioned two modes, leading to greater XP and level gains.

What does levelling up in XDefiant do?

While increasing your weapon level gives you new attachments and works towards mastery camos, increasing your player level doesn't seem to do anything at this point in time.

In other similar games, you'd typically earn new weapons or characters through this process, but these are all achieved by completing specific challenges, leaving nothing to be given through the standard level-up process. This, of course, doesn't rule out the option for rewards to be added in the future, but for now, I'd not be too worried about increasing your player level beyond it being a signal of status.
