Castform is one of the most unique creatures in Pokemon GO, as instead of having evolutions, it has four different forms that change depending on the weather conditions in your real-world location.

Whether you’re trying to catch all four to complete the Weather Week Collection Challenge or you just want to get one step closer to a complete living Pokedex, here’s how you can find every Castform form in the game.

Here are all of the Castform forms and the weather conditions that you need to catch them:

The weather in Pokemon GO is based on the weather in your current location. If it's raining outside, the chances are it will be Rainy in the game, too - which means you'll only be able to get Rainy Form Castform.

Unfortunately, there's no way to alter the Castform forms that spawn in the wild, so if you want them all you'll need to wait for different weather conditions or trade with a friend who has the forms you don't have.

Once a Castform has spawned in the wild, it won't change its form even if the weather suddenly changes. Equally, once you've caught a specific Castform, there's no way to change its form in the future.

What are the form differences?

Other than their appearance, the main difference between each Castform form is their type. For example, Rainy Form Castform is a Water-type Pokemon while Sunny Form Castform is a Fire-type Pokemon.

This means they all have different weaknesses and resistances, although this isn't worth thinking about too much as Castform doesn't have viability in either the GO Battle League or as a Raid attacker.

The other difference is the attacks they can learn. All forms of Castform can learn Tackle, but the rest of their movesets will be based on their typing eg. Rainy Form Castform can learn Water Gun and Hydro Pump.

Can Castform be Shiny in Pokemon GO?

The good news is that Shiny versions of all four Castform forms are now available in Pokemon GO, so you can hunt this rare variant whether it's the Normal, Sunny, Rainy, or Snowy version you're looking for.

As always, finding a Shiny Pokemon is going to be very difficult, with an estimated 1-in-500 chance of encountering one in the wild - so don't be too disheartened if you don't manage to get one!
