Biomes are a new feature in Pokemon GO, and each one is home to unique spawns and different environments for you to catch Pokemon in.

There are lots of these biomes to discover in this update. If you're in the forest you'll find a lot of Bug or Grass-types, while the Beach has more Water-types. There's a city biome, a mountain biome, and lots more.

For a full list of biomes, as well as all the spawns currently confirmed by Niantic, check out all the info we have below.

All biomes in Pokemon GO

Here's a list of the biomes in the latest Pokemon GO update:

  • Park (default)
  • Forest
  • Beach
  • River
  • Lake
  • Ocean
  • Mountain
  • City
  • Grasslands

Each biome has a different appearance so you'll know if you're in one. When you're in a biome you'll get new spawns, like Bulbasaur in the Forest biome or Diglett in the Mountain biome.

These are all the confirmed spawns we know about following the biome update:

Biomes Spawns
Forest Bulbasaur, Caterpie, Weedle, Oddish
Beach Squirtle, Psyduck, Seel, Magikarp, Wiglett
Mountain Clefairy, Diglett, Sandshrew, Zubat
City Caterpie, Pidgey, Machop, Gastly

Niantic has only confirmed spawns for certain biomes, so the list isn't fully fleshed out just yet. As more Pokemon spawns get confirmed, we'll add them to the list above.

Wiglett is the only new Pokemon to show up in the biomes update, but it's very likely more biome-exclusive Pokemon will be added in the near future.
