With over 25 demanding Trophies available in Modern Warfare 2 2022, it would be foolish to go achievement hunting without an MW2 Trophy guide in hand. Trophies and achievements are commonplace in gaming, and Call of Duty is famous for these unique challenges that it tasks players with completing. So, to aid in your journey to that elusive Platinum Trophy, we bring you our comprehensive MW2 Trophy guide.

Before you begin your trek to collect all the Trophies in Modern Warfare 2, let's review some tidbits of information that you may want to be aware of.

Acquiring all the MW2 Trophies is moderately difficult, and you can expect the task to take around 10-15 hours. But, if you start on Veteran, you only need to play through the story a single time to complete all the achievements.

There are no MW2 Trophies for Online Multiplayer or Warzone. The Modern Warfare 2 Trophies and Achievement list is restricted to Campaign and Spec Ops only.

Test Drive: Drive five types in ‘Violence and Timing’

During the mission 'Violence and Timing', you'll reach a point where your helicopter is struck by a rocket, and you wind up hanging upside down. Cut yourself loose and hijack the truck that you land on. From there, you will need to hijack four additional vehicles of different types to obtain this Trophy.

On the side of the road, you'll notice plenty of civilian vehicles ripe for hijacking. Hijack these abandoned vehicles, plus other enemy vehicles, until you've commandeered five different types of vehicles altogether.

After unlocking the MW2 Test Drive Trophy, consider restarting the mission and focusing on the Keeping this One Trophy.

Wall of Duty: Kill three Enemies with the Riot Shield in the Campaign or in Co-op

You can earn this MW2 Trophy on the mission 'Prison Break'. After rescuing Alejandro, eliminate the enemies wielding Riot Shields, then pick up a shield and use it to slay three additional enemies.

Daredevil: While affected by one Flashbang, kill two enemies in the Campaign or in Co-op

Prioritise this Trophy in the mission 'Wetwork'. When you get to the part where Captain Price begins to investigate a dead enemy, look to the right of Price and grab the Flashbangs on the shelf. When you next encounter enemies, throw a Flashbang at your feet and begin to fire blindly in the direction of the foes. You'll need to eliminate two enemies in quick succession to complete this Trophy.

If you fail, feel free to reload the latest checkpoint and try again.

A Crappy Way to Die: Kill the enemy in the porta-potty.

In the mission 'Dark Water' there will be a brief moment where you can assassinate an unsuspecting enemy seated inside a porta-potty. For more details, check out our primer dedicated to the MW2 A Crappy Way to Die Trophy.

Crocodile: Shoot three enemies while underwater in ‘Wetwork’

You can earn this MW2 Trophy at the very beginning of the mission. Kill the first enemy you see with a Throwing Knife and grab their Suppressed Pistol. Then, use the pistol to kill the remaining enemies on the docks — but make sure you're completely submerged underwater when you make the kill.

Don’t touch the deck!: In ‘Dark Water’ advance 90 metres toward the front of the ship without touching the deck

This MW2 Trophy requires that you parkour your way from one end of the ship to the other without ever touching the ground.

You'll find yourself in rough waters, causing the crates and containers on the ship to slide back and forth. Leap from object to object, spamming the jump button/key mid-air to pull yourself up shall you come up short. Use the crates, containers, pipes, railings, and various platforms to traverse the ship without touching the deck floor.

Make sure to clear out enemies as you go, or they'll mess you up. If the AI opponents start to give you too much trouble, consider switching to Recruit difficulty.

Keeping This One: Reach Price using the first vehicle you hijack

While the Test Drive Trophy requires you to commandeer five different vehicles in the ‘Violence and Timing’ mission, the MW2 Keeping This One achievement tasks you with making it all the way to Price with your initial vehicle intact.

Avoid the mines, enemy gunfire, and other obstacles as best you can to meet up with Price in one piece.

Practice makes Perfect: Shoot all the targets in the training area in ‘Ghost Team’

There are 33 targets total in the training area that you must shoot to unlock this MW2 Trophy. The targets are scattered all around the area — including inside buildings and on rooftops.

While you're hunting the targets, there'll be a tank on your six. Avoid the tank because its fire is devastating, but don't destroy it until you're done shooting targets.

Nessie: Reach the barge without being seen in ‘Wetwork’

The MW2 Nessie Trophy will require you to complete a chunk of the 'Wetwork' mission — undetected. To do this, use Throwing Knives and silenced weapons, and take advantage of the water.

Swim around the area and carefully eliminate all the enemies without getting spotted. Try to take them down one at a time while the others aren't paying attention, or just make sure you kill them all before they have a chance to react. If you're ever in danger of being seen, dive underwater to avoid detection. And if you fail, simply restart the mission.

No time to lose: Complete the CCTV sequence in four minutes

The CCTV sequence in the 'Prison Break' mission will have you escort Ghost with the help of a CCTV. Direct Ghost through the prison unscathed as quickly as possible to unlock this MW2 Trophy.

Feel free to switch cameras to see different angles and use distractions to throw off enemies. If you take too long, you can restart the mission and try again.

Backpack Guy: Kill gassed or blinded enemies using a Molotov, Semtex, and Frag in ‘Prison Break’

After you rescue Alejandro from the cell, you'll have an opportunity to refresh your Equipment. With a full stash, toss Stun or Gas Grenades at the next group of enemies you encounter, and while they're disoriented, finish them off with Molotovs, Semtexs, or Frags.

Nobody was There: Never trigger the alarm in ‘Recon by Fire’

For this MW2 Trophy, you must progress through the various enemy strongholds in the 'Recon by Fire' mission without ever allowing an enemy to trigger the alarm.

There are a lot of moving parts to this Trophy, and you'll need to be flawless, but if you listen closely, Captain Price will guide you on how to effectively navigate the operation. Follow Price's instructions, and you shouldn't have too much trouble avoiding sounding the alarm.

Night Fight: Earn three stars in ‘Denied Area’

'Denied Area' is a Co-op Spec Ops mission. To earn three stars, you must complete the level in under 16 minutes. So, grab a trustworthy friend and speed through the mission as quickly as possible. Avoid enemies when you can and focus primarily on the objective.

Kings of the Mountain: Earn three Stars in ‘Defender: Mt. Zaya’

‘Defender: Mt. Zaya’ is another Co-op Spec Ops mission. For this MW2 Trophy, you must complete the level while allowing the enemies to plant no more than three bombs.

‘Defender: Mt. Zaya’ pits you and an ally against waves of enemies focused on planting bombs atop three different objectives. Spread out and kill any combatants that get close to an objective, and if they do get a plant off, quickly defuse it. Use money from killing enemies to stock up on supplies. Cluster Mines, Sentry Turrets and Cruise Missiles are especially useful in the later waves.

Going Dark: Complete ‘Low Profile’ without triggering any alarms

The last of the Co-op Spec Ops missions is 'Low Profile'. Rather than get three stars, this Trophy tasks players with completing the level without triggering any alarms. Since this is a Co-op mission, you'll want a partner that you can rely on. Attempting this achievement with a random via matchmaking is a recipe for disaster.

Take your time and move through the various buildings while completing the objectives. Be careful not to alert any enemies or trigger any alarms, or you'll have to restart from the last checkpoint.

Only the Beginning: Earn at least one Star in Co-op

You will earn this Trophy naturally as you play through the Spec Ops missions.

Full SSE: Find 20 intel fragments in Co-op

Hidden inside the Co-op Spec Ops missions are intel fragments. Intel fragments are represented in-game as hard drives, USBs, folders, and sometimes crates. There are 50 intel fragments available in total:

  • 20 in 'Low Profile'
  • 20 in 'Denied Area'
  • Ten in ‘Defender: Mt. Zaya’

Find and collect at least 20 intel fragments across the three levels to unlock this MW2 Trophy.

Must be Wind: Rescue the hostages in ‘Countdown' without the enemies firing their weapons

After starting the mission 'Countdown', you'll be dropped off on top of a building by a helicopter. Next, you will rappel down the side, visiting a series of floors where hostages are being held captive. To unlock this Trophy, you must eliminate all the enemies without ever giving them a chance to fire their guns.

It might take an attempt or two, but if you're thoughtful in your approach, you can make quick work of these terrorists before they have an opportunity to shoot back.

Gunless: Finish ‘Alone’ without firing a gun

This MW2 Trophy will be a pain on Veteran, so consider using Mission Select to have a go at it on Recruit.

Simply put, you must finish the mission without ever using a gun. You can pick up guns, but you can't shoot. However, feel free to take enemies out with Melee and Equipment.

Ghost-in-Training: Reach the penthouse in ‘El Sin Nombre’ without killing anyone or triggering the alarm

Immediately after your interrogation, you'll enter an elevator and receive a mask. From here, you must get to the penthouse without triggering the alarm — or killing any enemies.

Sneak around and use alternate routes to avoid enemies spotting you. For example, early on, there is a balcony in the backyard that you can climb to access an open door. Additionally, use bottles to distract enemies in your path and creep by. Ghost would be proud!

Gentleman Thief: Open three safes in the Campaign

“El Sin Nombre” features one safe, while there are two safes in 'Alone'. To snag this Gold Trophy, you must open all three.

Reference our guide on the MW2 safe codes and locations for exact details on where to find and how to open these Campaign safes.

Cutting Heads off Snakes: Finish all Campaign missions on Veteran or Realism difficulty

If possible, select Veteran difficulty for your first playthrough of the MW2 Campaign. That way, you won't have to go back and beat it again a second time. Also, it's not like you can't complete all the other achievements on Veteran — they will just be a bit more challenging.

Time for Pints: Finish the Campaign on any difficulty

If you play through the Campaign on Veteran, you'll automatically unlock this MW2 Trophy alongside the Cutting Heads off Snakes Trophy.
