Thankfully, as it is a Fortress it is usually marked on the map already, so it is pretty easy to find as long as you know the general area.
You can use the key on any of the multiple entrance points, but do be wary that exiting out of a different door will incur an additional use on the key. Inside you'll find a wealth of loot, such as money, weapons, equipment, and much more.
