Is Mew In Pokemon Scarlet And Violet?
There are now 1008 with the launch of Generation 8 in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Whilst the Paldea Pokedex only encompasses 400 Pokemon, players have been hoping Mew is among them. Let's get into whether Mew is available in this "Mew Scarlet Violet" guide.
Is Mew in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?
Click to enlargeAs of right now, Mew is not available in Scarlet and Violet. However, the 151st Pokemon could soon be available in two ways.
The first way we can see a Mew Scarlet Violet debut is through DLC. A recent datamine leak showed us that new content could be on the way - so far including new forms for two Pokemon: Suicune and Virizion.
Game Freak or the Pokemon Company are yet to confirm any DLC plans. However, since Sword & Shield set a new precedent by launching post-release content instead of a third game, doing the same for Scarlet and Violet - including a potential Mew Scarlet Violet debut - could definitely happen.
The second way we could see a Mew Scarlet Violet introduction is via Pokemon Home. As confirmed on the official Pokemon site, a Pokemon Home update that will make the cloud service Pokemon storage game compatible with Scarlet and Violet, is slated for Spring 2023.
When this update launches from March 2023 at the earliest, you'll be able to transfer to Scarlet and Violet Pokemon from recent past games that you've stored in Pokemon Home. Currently, you can store Pocket Monsters in Pokemon Home from the following games:
- Pokemon Legends Arceus
- Pokemon Sword and Shield
- Pokemon GO
- Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee
- Pokemon Bank
So, if Mew isn't introduced into Scarlet and Violet before Spring 2023, you'll instead be able to transfer over a Mew from one of your past games instead. You'll merely have to use the free-to-play Pokemon Home to act as a middleman.
