Meloetta has returned in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's Indigo Disk DLC, but the method for finding this Mythical singing diva is one of the most bizarre puzzles in the history of Pokemon games.

If there's one thing the base Scarlet & Violet games lacked, it was Mythical Pokemon. Fortunately, the new Indigo Disk expansion changes that slightly by adding Meloetta to the Blueberry Academy's Terarium - if you can find it, that is!

Where to find Meloetta in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

A single Meloetta can be found in the Coastal Biome on a cliff in between the Coastal Outdoor Classroom and the Coastal Rest Area quick travel spots within Scarlet & Violet's Indigo Disk DLC. You can see the exact location on the map below:

How to make Meloetta appear

When you arrive here, you might notice lots of leaves being blown around by the wind - but what you're looking for specifically is a vortex of leaves being blown around in a circle. It's in between two plants.

Stand in the middle of this vortex (it helps to adjust the camera to look down from above if you want to make sure you're in the right place) and then spin your character clockwise for at least 20 seconds.

Your character will start to spin on their own after a few seconds of doing this, but make sure you keep rotating that stick or they'll stop too early.

As soon as you stop spinning, open the camera with the down button on the D-Pad. Tap the right button on the D-Pad seven times until you get to the Sepia filter. You can check which filter you've got on the camera by looking at the top right corner of the screen.

Wait a few seconds and you'll hear a song - it's none other than Meloetta! Slowly turn around until you see Meloetta then put away your camera. Save your game (you don't want to risk knocking it out) and approach it to begin the battle.

Tips for catching Meloetta

When trying to catch a rare Pokemon like Meloetta, I would always recommend using a Pokemon that knows False Swipe - which leaves your opponent with at least 1HP - as well as Hypnosis to put them to sleep.

Both of these things will increase your catch rate and Hypnosis will stop your opponent from attacking you for a while so you can focus on throwing Poke Balls. An excellent Pokemon that can learn these moves is Gallade.

So now you know how to find Meloetta. Bizarre, right? We have to give a shoutout to this tweet as it appears to be one of the first places the method was reported, but it seems various members of the Pokemon fandom figured this one out together.

If you're wondering how you were expected to find Meloetta by yourself, there is an NPC in the Blueberry Academy who gives you a clue by talking about a breeze in the meadows followed by the sound of singing.

Even with that hint, it's hard to imagine many people figuring it out by themselves.

That's everything you need to know about Meloetta in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's Indigo Disk DLC. Now you've caught this Mythical creature, check out our Pokemon homepage for more guides like the latest Mystery Gift codes and the upcoming Tera Raid events.
