Among the new and returning Pokemon in The Indigo Disk's Blueberry Pokedex, players are especially searching for how to evolve Magmar into Magmortar in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. With Elite Four member Crispin sporting a Magmortar in his team, it's easy for any trainer wanting to find out how to get their own.

So, let's jump into how to evolve Magmar in Scarlet & Violet.

How to evolve Magmar in The Indigo Disk

You'll need to trade Magmar holding a Magmarizer to have it evolve into Magmortar in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. As the trade is completed, the evolution will trigger right away.

As your new Magmortar will be in the hands of another player, you should conduct it locally or online with a friend so you can be sure they'll trade it back to you right away. That's unless you're both trading Magmars to get Magmortars at the same time of course.

How to get a Magmarizer

As well as buying a Magmarizer from The Indigo Disk's School Store for 250 BP, you can also get one as a reward for registering 140 Pokemon in the Blueberry Pokedex that comes with the Scarlet & Violet DLC.

If you're trying to get a Magmortar as quickly as possible, buying from the School Store is the way to go. However, I recommend you save your BP for unlocking all of the starters in The Indigo Disk and aim for the Pokedex reward.

It may take a bit of effort exploring the Terarium's biomes to catch and evolve enough Pokemon to fill up your Pokedex enough, but it's by far the cheaper and more efficient option.

Is there any other way to get Magmortar?

If you haven't got a friend you're comfortable trading a Magmar evolve to have it evolve, there are two other ways you can get Magmortar: 5 and 6-Star Tera Raid Battles or through other games via Pokemon HOME

Tera Raids

As you explore Tera Raids available on the Indigo Disk's Terarium map, there's a chance you may run into a 5-Star or 6-Star raid with Magmortar as its boss; or you could even encounter one to join in the Tera Raid Battle menu in the Poke Portal.

The bosses for these Tera Raids are random though, so finding a Magmortar ultimately comes down to luck.

Pokemon HOME

Magmortar is also available in Pokemon GO and Pokemon Legends: Arceus; so if you send one you might have in either game to Pokemon HOME, you'll be able to transfer it over to Scarlet or Violet. Of course, this would require a lot of effort if you're new to either game, but regular players may find this far easier than the alternatives.
