How to unlock crafting

To unlock the ability to craft and upgrade weapons, you need to reach Chapter Four in the game. When the chapter starts, Kasuga meets with the Revolve's Bartender, who advises going to his friend Julie's auto shop, which is a front for her weapons shop.

Julie's shop is located just right of Hula Avenue in the game, which you can easily walk to.

How to craft and upgrade weapons

Upon entering Julie's Gearworks, you'll have the ability to craft and upgrade your weapons. For upgrading, you'll need some items you find in the world, like iron fragments, iron chunk, electric fragments, etc. After getting enough of these, you can upgrade your weapons.

For crafting certain weapons, you'll need the base version of these weapons found in stores and around the world and other rare materials like Geodes and Fragments. As you progress in the game, the rare material will be easily available via side activities and main story missions.

You can also add Brands to your weapons, which increases certain stats like boosts and critical hit chances. These are pivotal in the later stages of the game as you take on tougher enemies.

How to invest in Julie's Gearworks

You also have the ability to invest in Julie's Gearworks as a Facility. Increasing the Facility Rank will provide you with better weapons and upgrades. There are generally two ways to increase the Facility Rank: crafting/upgrading weapons or investing your money directly in Julie's Gearworks.

You don't need to put all your money at once, but you can do it in short amounts as well. Fully upgrading the Faciility Rank will provide you with really powerful weapons that can prepare you for New Game+ as well.
