It looks like Cal Kestis might not be the only "Chosen One" when it comes to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in 2023. Could Respawn Entertainment be hiding an Obi-Wan Kenobi DLC?

Although it seems like only yesterday we swung our sabers as the flame-haired Cal Kestis, the developer has been hard at work firing up the Stinger Mantis and sending us into hyperspace once again.

We've not even wrapped 2022, but already, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor looks like it will be one of 2023 biggest games. Adding Obi-Wan to proceedings would definitely help its chances, however, these might not be the DLCs you're looking for.

Is Jedi: Survivor Getting An Obi-Wan Kenobi DLC?

There have been a lot of Star Wars games over the years, but let's be honest, most of them have been pretty middling. Yes, we're looking at you Battlefront II. That all changed with the Souls-like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, so a lot is riding on its sequel.

As well as picking up the story of a grizzled Cal five years after he escaped the clutches of Darth Vader, the game's timeline puts it conveniently around the events of Deborah Chow's Obi-Wan Kenobi series that aired on Disney+ in 2022.

If you aren't convinced Obi-Wan will be saying, "Hello there," leaked cosmetics show off some cryptic pre-order bonuses. Cal's "Hermit Bundle" pretty much confirms blaster combat, while his outfit looks more than a little familiar.

In particular, the "Hermit Lightsaber" appears to be the one Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan used in 1999's The Phantom Menace. Don't get too excited, though, because it's likely the DLC is simply cosmetic.

Will Obi-Wan Appear In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?

We previously heard how "major cameos" will factor into Jedi: Survivor, so let's hope it's more than just the standard appearance of Emperor Palpatine. Given the game's place in that sweet spot between trilogies, anyone and everyone could pop by - well, not you, Padmé.

It's unclear whether there will be a Kenobi season 2, but with continued calls for Cameron Monaghan to play Cal in live-action, we think it's well overdue. One way to make this happen would be to have Obi-Wan appear in Jedi: Survivor

In some dream world, we'd get an actual Obi-Wan DLC akin to when Alien: Isolation added Ellen Ripley and the crew of the Nostromo's story to the main game.

Fallen Order's DLC content was purely cosmetic, but like Resident Evil Village added its Shadows of Rose DLC, we hold out hope that Respawn will give us some post-story narrative to tie Cal and co. into the wider world of the galaxy far, far away.
