Shirley Curry, affectionately known to fans as Skyrim Grandma, was all smiles as she gave fans a heart-warming health update after she revealed that a recent stroke had left her unable "to do the thing [she] loves the most" - playing Skyrim.

When you think of beloved Skyrim figures you may think of Paarthurnax, Lydia, or J'zargo (just for the love of Arkay not Nazeem). However, one name who certainly deserves to be on the list is Shirley Curry, the 86-year-old gaming grandma who has captured the hearts of many Skyrim fans. Her wholesome playthroughs have helped her build one of the most popular YouTube channels dedicated to the sixth instalment of the Elder Scrolls franchise. Subsequently, she has been able to hold her own against her rivals, such as "Gopher" and "MxR Mods."

Then, back in February, fans were devastated to hear that Curry had suffered a stroke that affected her ability to play Skyrim and release any new content. However, Curry has now given fans a reassuring health update in one of her recent vlogs and it could not be any more welcome news amidst everything else going on.

Shirley Curry Updates Fans About Her Health

In a YouTube video posted on February 28, Curry revealed that she had suffered a stroke while she was sleeping and woke up the next morning to find that she couldn't remember how to play Skyrim, "the thing [she] loves to do the most." However, she reassured fans that she was well and that she was getting fantastic support from her loved ones as she was beginning to undergo therapy to help her with her memory.

However, fans were elated to see Curry smiling away during her YouTube upload on March 8 in which she gave fans a heart-warming health update. In the video, Curry welcomed her fans, or her "grandkids" as she affectionately calls them, and said that she is still waiting for her memory to completely come back. However, she is back up and playing Skyrim, but her son wants her to avoid recording for a while she practices certain things in the game.

In a previous upload, Curry was all smiles as she showed off a "beautiful" bouquet of flowers that she had received from none other than Elder Scrolls developer, Bethesda. The YouTuber shared: "I'm so proud of them and so thrilled that they would do something like this for me."

Has Skyrim Grandma Released Any New Content Recently?

It's still early days for Curry since her stroke, but she has claimed that her therapy is slowly helping her gain back her memory. She may not have released any new Skyrim playthroughs in recent times as she recovers, but in her latest YouTube video, Curry asked fans what they would like to see from her in future. Just some of the ideas she has planned include doing a Q&A, a YouTube livestream, and taking her camera with her outdoors during her walks.

Curry seemed to be all smiles in her latest vlogs and doesn't seem to have let the recent setback dull her spirits. Hopefully, it won't be long until she returns to Tamriel a hero. Maybe she'll even share her take on Skyrim's 19 new shouts.
