Finally. The brand-new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is here, and it has revealed a massive wealth of what we can expect in the expansive new Pokemon adventures.
The first trailer gave us a peek at our new starters, and now we can see them in-game in fully rendered 3D glory - along with the delightful Lechonk, a new battle UI, the new Pokemon Professors and more.
The trailer shows us a lot of what to expect, along with its official release date - but there are some details that you may have missed.
Pokemon Scarlet And Violet's New Trailer Hides Secret Details
If you're willing to do a little digging into the language used for many features in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, you're likely to learn a lot more about the actual themes of the games themselves. We're still not entirely sure of how the narratives of the games will play out, but focusing on some minor details has given us something of an idea about what's to come.
A theory of the games' stories focusing on the past at war with the future seems feasible now, as when looking at the two Pokemon Professors, Professor Sada (derived from 'pasada', Spanish for 'past') and Professor Turo (derived from 'futuro', Spanish for 'future') it's hard to see a narrative that doesn't focus on time.
It likely won't be a space-time mish-mash like Diamond & Pearl were, but there's still every chance that the story could follow an archaic region that's trying to update itself drastically, as chaos ensues around it.
But these clues aren't just hidden with the professors.
Scarlet & Violet's Legendaries Hints At A Past-Future Storyline
The two brand-new legendaries revealed in the trailer, Koraidon and Miraidon, also hint at this narrative direction. Their designs (though relatively phallic from behind) both represent this idea of the past at war with the future - the pair look like motorcycles, with Koraidon boasting a big, stylish wheel on his chest, and Miraidon instead carrying jet engines, and pixelated eyes.
It looks as though the two Pokemon are going to have a big role in the narrative of Scarlet & Violet if these theories come to be true, and the shape of the games is really starting to appear now. These games could be something really special - and we can't wait to find out if we're right.
