Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are fast approaching, and though many fans still feel as though a new generation of Pokemon is too much too soon, we simply cannot wait to see what awaits us in the new region.

Frankly, any new Pokemon project is a good thing, but to get a whole new region only a few years after Sword and Shield is absolutely huge. We're already won over by its inhabitants, having seen the delightful Lechonk in the most recent gameplay trailer.

The game's starters are incredibly sweet too, and as fans are desperately begging for Sprigattito not to become anthropomorphised as many cat-like Pokemon are, there's other news rearing its head when it comes to starters. If you're a fan of Pokemon Black and White, this is really going to sting.

Which Starter Pokemon Will Appear In Scarlet And Violet?

It's safe to say that Pokemon Twitter is about to get turned upside down. According to one insider, the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet won't actually include the starter pokemon of the franchise's fifth generation whatsoever - meaning that by no means can trainers actually bag them in their games.

This extends to Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott, as well as their evolutions. So far, there's no word on the starters from other generations being blacklisted, but even though this collection of starters isn't the most popular, it's still going to devastate a lot of fans. The leak comes from popular insider CentroLeaks, which has also revealed that other Pokemon won't make the cut in a thread of tweets.

Which Pokemon Have Been Cut From Scarlet And Violet?

The tweet thread reveals a wealth of details about the upcoming games and goes on to explain which Pokemon won't be making the cut - and some of the picks are a bit sad. Thankfully, we'll be seeing the return of Mimikyu, Goodra and Hisuian Goodra, and Snover - but the game is axing the Gen 5 starters, Smeargle, and Sharpedo in the process.

Although, it's not all bad news, as it has been suggested that we're also getting a new form of Tauros too. It's a shame to see the Gen 5 starters get shown the door, but of course, some sacrifices have to be made for a Pokedex that makes sense in the region. Sigh.
