Roll out the red carpet because the YouTube king himself PewDiePie has arrived to the 'TV Show meta' debate. However, he clearly isn’t a fan of the meta and even called streamers who went with the meta are "dumb".

Everyday more and more famous faces are lending their voice to the debate surrounding streamers watching copyrighted media as part of their content. Although react videos are nothing new, towards the end of 2021 it seemed as though every single streamer was broadcasting their reaction to some of the most popular films and TV shows. So was born the 'TV show meta'. While the meta became a firm favourite for some audiences, others considered the meta to just be a way for streamers to steal other people’s content

Now, Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg has added his name to the mix and clearly has no sympathy for streamers who get banned for using the meta as part of their content.

What Did PewDiePie Say About 'TV Show Meta' Streamers?

During one of his streams on January 11, PewDiePie took a savage swipe at streamers who have included copyrighted material in their videos without permission from the original authors. According to GAMINGbible, in the stream, PewDiePie said: "Oh, you watched Avatar: The Last Airbender on Twitch? See that's a lie because no one would be dumb enough to do that." He then glanced at the camera and began to laugh.

As anyone who has been keeping tabs on the whole Twitch DMCA drama will know, PewDiePie is clearly making a dig directly towards Imane "Pokimane" Anys. The Twitch streamer caused shockwaves across the internet when she received her first ever ban from the platform for livestreaming Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Has PewDiePie Ever Been Banned For Streaming Copyrighted Content?

As of writing, PewDiePie has not been banned for streaming copyrighted content in his streams as most of his videos involve him playing games such as Minecraft and Skyrim. However, fellow YouTuber Ludwig "Ludwig" Ahgren warned that if Twitch decided to stomp out all copyrighted content from streamer’s videos, then they might not even be able to stream their game playthroughs.

Pokimane is yet to react to PewDiePie’s comments and, given how she is back up on Twitch again, it might not be long until she claps back at the YouTuber.
