It seems that Rocksteady Studios just can't catch a break, with the reception toward Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League being frostier than Mr. Freeze. While Rocksteady is known for the lauded Arkham games, the next entry in the franchise has a lot of work on its hands to turn fan expectations around.

Instead of moving forward with a sequel to 2015's Batman: Arkham Knight, Rocksteady is branching out with something different for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Although set in the same continuity as the Arkhamverse, we'll see a different side of the story as things pivot to the viewpoint of the villains.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has a Captain Boomerang problem

Bringing back the fan-favourite Harley Quinn from the Arkham games, Kill the Justice League lets you play as the Clown Princess of Crime, alongside Suicide Squad staples Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark. As well as being favourites from the comics, all have appeared in Warner Bros.' live-action Suicide Squad movies.

While you can pick and choose which member of Task Force X you can play as, players have noticed a major flaw with Captain Boomerang. As his name suggests, the arrogant Australian's signature weapon of choice is a boomerang. With that, you might expect he'd be able to wield one in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

In the latest deep dive into Kill the Justice League, Rocksteady bizarrely states Captain Boomerang will use "a mix between sniper rifles, smgs, and shotguns." It's an odd omission that boomerangs aren't mentioned here, and with Captain Boomerang being known for having a variety of these in his arsenal, fans are questioning why he's included at all.

Fans demand Captain Boomerang gets his weapons back

Alongside Kill the Justice League being dragged for its live service credentials, the fact that Boomer doesn't showcase his boomerangs is ratting the game's fanbase. One critic grumbled, "THREE weapons were mentioned as Captain Boomerang’s primaries. Have a quick guess which one weapon was not mentioned?"

Another added, "Between Captain No Boomerangs and a Harley who looks like a washed-up South Boston bartender after a St Paddy’s pub crawl, this game looks rough." A third concluded, "Imagine they made a Wolverine game and the developers were like 'Wolverine uses a mix of shotguns, laser rifles, and flight abilities to defeat enemies'"

Others have noted that we see Captain Boomerang use his boomerangs in melee gameplay. Still, it's frustrating that a character known for a specific weapon isn't being emphasised for using that particular weapon. It remains to be seen if Kill the Justice League can redeem itself, but come on - at least get the basics right.
