YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has been teasing his fans with some cryptic tweets following rumours that he could be next to fight Santos "Canelo" Álvarez.

Jake Paul's YouTube days may seem long behind him as he continues to certify himself as one of the most famous boxers in the world. There were talks that he could be heading to Twitch at some point, but fans weren't very happy with that idea. So, he's swapped the desk and selfie light for the boxing ring like his brother Logan, who's embracing his Pokémon-fuelled lifestyle

However, Paul has continued to be a popular YouTube personality and has certainly made his mark on the boxing scene. Now, he could be going one further and fighting the icon himself Canelo, but sad news. It doesn't look like they'll be a fight between him and Mike Tyson any time soon.

Why Do Fans Think Jake Paul Is Teasing A Match Between Him And Canelo?

Taking to Twitter on January 16, Salvador Rodriquez from ESPN said: "Canelo Alvarez's next opponent reportedly could now be one that a lot of boxing purists are not going to like." Fans then began to speculate as to which fighter Rodriguez could be hinting at and it wasn't long before Jake Paul's name was thrown into the mix by a number of people. Paul then helped to fuel the fire by retweeting the comment alongside three 'cold-face' emojis.

Some fans read this as Paul teasing that he could be next on Canelo's list as he definitely hasn't been a favourite among the "boxing purists". However, others just saw this as Paul just trolling again, which has happened before. As of writing, there's been no official confirmation from either parties about the fight, but there was one rumoured match which has been officially quashed.

Will Jake Paul Fight Mike Tyson?

You've got to hand it to Jake Paul, he isn't afraid to square up to even the most legendary of sportspeople. Not even, the man, the myth, the legend himself Mike Tyson. Tyson has been a vocal supporter of both Paul brothers ever since they first appeared on the boxing scene, but he made it pretty clear that he wouldn't fight either of them.

However, on January 17, rumours began to circulate once again that Jake and Tyson could be up for a showdown match in 2022. According to the reports, the match would have been a $50 million mega-fight between 55-year-old Tyson and 25-year-old Paul. Although, Tyson quickly quelled the rumours on Twitter saying that "it was news to me" and Paul "never mentioned it" last time he saw him.

So, just exactly what could be next for Jake Paul? Well, we know for sure that rumours of a match between him and Tyson are off the cards, but maybe not so for him and Canelo. If not, there's always the match between Logan and Hasbulla to look forward to.
