It's another day, another Rockstar rumour, and the latest is a doozy from the Grand Theft Auto camp. After years of speculation, we know the developer is hard at work on GTA 6, but apart from an announcement tweet in 2022, things have gone quiet since.

In another corner of gaming speculation, there are swirling reports that Nintendo is getting ready to unveil the Nintendo Switch 2. Similar to GTA 6, there have been years of sketchy leaks and "trust me bro" snippets about a successor to the beloved Nintendo Switch.

GTA 6 rumoured for Switch 2

With Nintendo's consoles typically lagging behind its Microsoft and Sony competitors, a truly new-gen GTA would leave the OG Switch as a puddle of molten plastic. Considering the mythical Switch 2 is apparently going to have similar power to the PS4 and Xbox One, you'd think it's counted out from running GTA 6.

A sketchy rumour maintains GTA 6's eventual release is targeting the Switch 2, Universo Nintendo's Editor-in-Chief making the claim. It's the same person who's previously said Monster Hunter and Far Cry 7 will hit the Switch 2. While it's possible, not everyone is sold.

One sceptic grumbled, "This dude has been wrong enough already that he ain't worth following anymore," while another added, "They're just making up new insiders every other day now." A third rightly pointed out, "If GTA5 isn’t on the Switch then GTA6 isn’t coming to Nintendo’s next platform."

Someone else concluded, "Bullsh*t. I definitely expect GTA V to be on there, but there's no way they'd make GTA VI playable on Switch 2, instead of making it take advantage of the PS5's power. I'll believe this sh*t when I see it."

Do we know anything about GTA 6?

If you're feeling a little overwhelmed by GTA 6 leaks, you aren't alone. The problem is, Rockstar hasn't given us any official details, AND there was a massive data leak in September 2022. This has been a double-edged sword by giving us a tonne of footage to pore through, with no one sure what's the real deal.

It's important to note that the GTA 6 leaks reportedly came from an early build, meaning some might've been cut from the final game. Added to this, there have been worries about a potential restart, as Rockstar refuses to let us inside.

Whatever is going on with GTA 6, Rockstar is letting it cook a bit longer. Fans have become desperate and are even using the Moon to try and decipher a potential October 2023 reveal. We've been burned before, and with the GTA 6 Switch 2 rumour, we'll park it firmly in the maybe pile...for now.
