Solving the Gutanbac Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is no simple task and finding the location is also going to be a challenge - especially considering you won't have all of Link's rune abilities by this stage of the game.

Here, we’ll be going through exactly where Gutanbac Shrine is located in the game, the enemies you’ll face there and the equipment you will need to battle the cold.

Gutanbac Shrine is the third shrine you’ll encounter shortly after beginning your adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It is located atop an icy mountain that looks perilous to climb up on the Great Sky Island.

You’ll be able to spot Gutanbac Shrine from your position outside of the In-isa Shrine, so be sure to pin that location so that you don’t lose track of it.

Along the way, you’ll encounter several unique enemies, and even an optional boss encounter. We’ve detailed the enemies you’ll face and their unique drops for defeating them:

Enemies Drops upon defeat
Flux Construct 1 (optional boss) Zonai Charges, Zonai Capsules
Soldier Constructs Soldier Construct Horns
Ice Chuchu White Chuchu Jelly
Keese Keese Eyeball, Keese Wing
Like Like Chests, eaten weapons, Like Like Stone

How to get to Gutanbac Shrine

To get to Gutanbac Shrine, you’ll need to make sure that you are suitably prepared, which means having some cold-resistant dishes in order to make the ascent. Thankfully, there are plenty of Spicy Peppers around, and a cooking pot ready to use. Once you've got those dishes to hand, follow these steps to get to the Shrine:

  • After you make your way through the Pondside Cave and the Mining Cave following the In-Isa Shrine, you’ll find yourself in a clearing with the Zonai Dispenser.
  • From the Zonai Dispenser, keep following the path until you reach a cave (along this path you can also see the platform where the Flux Construct 1 boss fight is stationed).
  • There is a friendly Construct in this cave, who will advise you to have a full belly before progressing.
  • Push on ahead and you will see the Bottomless Cave entrance. Head inside, and be sure to pick up some of the Bomb Flowers.
  • As you make your way through this tunnel, you will encounter two Like Likes. These enemies are stuck to the walls and ceilings and will steal your weapon if they can reach you.
    • To defeat them, hit their weak spot when the mouth is open, and you’ll be able to reclaim your lost weapons.
  • Once through the cave, climb the roots at the exit and you’ll reach the top of the mountain.
  • To the left is a small building with a cooking pot, and to the right is the Gutanbac Shrine.

And that's it - you'll have arrived at the Shrine! For your trouble, you’ll be rewarded with the Ascend rune for your Ultrahand.
