Since its announcement, the new Sims 4 expansion pack, High School Years has created a buzz among The Sims 4 community. Through recent social drops from The Sims team, new information has surfaced suggesting there will be new social media platforms, a clothing platform like Depop and even a thrift store for sims to shop pre-loved clothes. In a string of gameplay reveals including new livestreaming content for teens, Maxis have alluded to a new social platform called 'Social Bunny'. The platform was previously showcased in the reveal trailer as a more fledged-out social media system, with sims able to text and send bunny-themed emotes to one another. So far there is no information on how interactive this experience will be or if it will be the same social interactions we have in The Sims now but catered more towards teens.

A new app like the Plopsy app in The Sims 4: Nifty Knitting will also be added. With the app, players will be able to sell old clothes for simoleons and even set trends. The app is called Trendi, and has an analytics feature that tells your sim which clothing styles are trendy that week. Other NPC sims may purchase your old clothes from you and wear them worldwide.

With livestreaming and social platforms already playing a role in The Sims 4: Get Famous pack, many fans are left wondering how the two packs will intersect with each other. It would make sense for a teen to gain fame akin to the influencer lifestyle if they can set trends on Trendi and gain a following on Social Bunny.

The Thrift Teashop was hinted at during the initial 2022 announcement trailer as being a new hangout area for teens. With recent teasers, we can see the full purchase mechanic of teens buying pre-loved clothes and outfits for prom. The gameplay seems slightly more intricate than the retail stores that came with The Sim 4: Get To Work, with sims able to try on the Depop-inspired clothes in a fitting room area, similar to create-a-sim.
