If you're looking to complete the new Expert Nectar Maker Aspiration, you'll need to know how to make Nectar in The Sims 4 Horse Ranch and how to age it to make even more Simoleons per batch.

Join me as we go through all the requirements to complete the aspiration in the Expansion Pack, as well as how to find the Mysterious Rancher, who will purchase Nectar for more profit and everything else you'll need to set up your own empire in the game.

How to get Nectar

Nectar is essentially The Sims 4's version of wine, which you can make from various fruits and veg in the game.

To make Nectar, you must first have the machine to do so, which is available in the Build/Buy catalogue for 350 Simoleons, listed under the 'Outdoor Activities' section (if you're struggling to find it, search for the 'Rootin' Fruit'n Nectar Maker' in the search bar.)

Once you have the Nectar Maker, simply click on it and choose the option to 'Craft Nectar'. You'll notice that your Sim will be limited at first in the types of Nectar they can make, which will change as they increase their Nectar Making skill.

From the Nectar Maker, you can also purchase basic ingredients to make it. You may wish to grow your own fruits for Nectar for maximum profit, especially if you're aiming to play a Rags to Riches challenge.

Other ways to get Nectar

You may also find random bottles of Nectar by clearing away Prairie Grass, so it may be worth applying the Prairie lot challenge to your lot to spawn more patches of it.

If you have the Rancher trait, you may also randomly produce double the amount of Nectar.

How to age Nectar

Once you've made a few bottles of Nectar, you can stow it away on special shelving to age it and increase its value.

To do this, you need to purchase the 'Rancher's Stackable Nectar Storage Rack' from the build and buy catalogue. Once bought, place the shelving unit on your lot and simply drag bottles of Nectar from your Sim's inventory to the shelving.

The storage rack can only hold 13 bottles of Nectar at a time, but you can buy multiple shelves if you wish to build a Nectar cellar for maximum Simoleons.

Who is the Mysterious Rancher?

If you've been playing Horse Ranch for some time, you may have noticed an NPC with the 'Mysterious Rancher' title.

Occasionally you'll receive the pop-up message that he is in the area and willing to purchase Nectar for more Simoleons.

If you're struggling to find Roberto Crinkletop, the default Mysterious Rancher NPC, you can click on his portrait within the pop-up message on the right upper corner of the screen. This will direct the camera on him, wherever he is on the map.

He doesn’t have a residence in the world, and he appears randomly. Due to this, it’s a good idea to befriend him so that you can then invite him to hang out whenever you need to sell more Nectar in the future. If you have The Sims 4 Growing Together installed, you can even invite him to stay at your ranch and have easier access to his store.

To access the Nectar selling menu, click on the NPC and click the following options:

  • Friendly...
  • More choices
  • Sell Nectar

He may also appear as one of the neighbours in the Welcome Wagon event when you first move into a property in Chestnut Ridge. Look out for his classic red cowboy attire and introduce your Sim to him.

If you become good enough friends with the Mysterious Rancher, you'll unlock the interaction 'Ask About Family Nectar Recipe'. Doing so will unlock the Vitality Nectar recipe.

The recipe requires a Death Flower and Spinach to make as well as Nectar Making level 5. The Vitality Nectar is a special blend that can save Sims from death.

Completing the Expert Nectar Maker Aspiration

The Expert Nectar Maker aspiration in The Sims 4 Horse Ranch only has one step, unlock other aspirations that usually have four.

Within this step, you must complete the following activities to complete the aspiration and earn the Nectar Know-It-All trait:

  • Achieve Nectar Making level five – the only way to level up nectar Making skill is by making Nectar. As of writing, there are no Nectar skill books you can purchase for a boost
  • Make 50 Excellent bottles of Nectar – your Nectar will increase in value the higher your level.
  • Make 100,000 Simoleons selling Nectar – you can sell Nectar directly from your inventory However, if you travel to the grocery store opposite The Oak Barrel bar, you can sell your Nectar for almost double the price in some instances

You'll receive the Nectar Know-It-All trait as a reward along with the usual aspiration points. The trait gives your sim an iron bladder when drinking Nectar, negative moodlets will affect them less and they will have the ability to craft pre-aged Nectar.
