What do we know about High School Years gameplay?

From the trailer and following EA announcements we know a fair few different features that will be included in the new High School Years expansion:

  • Promposals (asking sims to prom with a romantic gesture)
  • Prom (this includes new formal dresses and suits)
  • Vote for prom king/queen
  • A new carnival area called Plumbite Pier (which will include a Ferris wheel, tunnel of love and haunted house attraction)
  • Photo-booths
  • New items to customise teen’s bedrooms
  • Classroom gameplay
  • Pranks
  • Detentions
  • Customisable high schools
  • New alternative and preppy-styled clothes
  • Weekly exams
  • Pillow fight interaction
  • New hang-out interaction with teens in their rooms
  • New sneaking out of the house interaction for teens
  • Lunch in the cafeteria
  • Cheerleaders
  • Other after-school activities include football, chess, and computer club
  • Science fairs
  • Prom will be customisable, with options to decorate
  • Graduation
  • Teens will be able to experience romance, with crushes

Considering the success of high school and prom mods, we can assume this pack will be immensely popular amongst sim players. The ability to go with your kids to high school instead of watching them disappear has been requested for several years now. As it stands, the Parenthood Game Pack is one of the most popular, with Sims players keen to have more realistic gameplay when playing with a family.

The new pier area looks to house a haunted house attraction, a Ferris wheel and food stalls. It will be an impressive prospect to have your Sims ride the Ferris wheel, only time will tell if it will be fully interactive.

The high school will be named Copperdale High and will be fully customisable. Copperdale is located near Lake LaSuli and is described by EA, to have once been an old mining town.

Following suit from the previous Werewolves and Snowy Escape Packs, Maxis has collaborated with community creators on the design of some of the featured lots in the new Copperdale world.

There will be a free base-game update along with the expansion which will allow base-game players to use body hair as well as other teased gameplay features.
