OD, Hideo Kojima’s latest gaming venture, was announced with a trailer at the 2023 Game Awards and with it a continuation of collaborative endeavours with several famous faces – including acclaimed director Jordan Peele.

While it’s still early days for the game, we’ve broken down everything we know so far, from the actors that are going to appear to the trailers that presented it.

What is OD?

OD is the latest game from Hideo Kojima in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios. With allusions to Kojima’s previously cancelled Silent Hills project and the teaser P.T., it’s safe to assume that this next title could take more of a horror approach.

Kojima himself, on the Kojima Productions website and in the interview above, broke down the collaboration with an emphasis on the use of cloud gaming technology: “We are working with Xbox Game Studios and their cloud gaming technology to take on the challenge of creating a very unique, immersive, and totally new style of game – or rather, a new form of media”.

Who is in the OD cast?

Ever the social butterfly, Hideo Kojima is collaborating with several actors once again to appear in this game, including:

  • Sophia Lillis
  • Hunter Schafer
  • Udo Kier

As the presentation of the game continued, Jordan Peele, director of Get Out, Us and Nope joined Kojima on stage, where it was revealed he would also be collaborating on the game.

Having previously worked with Guillermo Del Toro on Death Stranding, it’s no surprise that another acclaimed horror director would be joining Kojima in working on his next production.

Are there any OD trailers?

Teaser Trailer

The first trailer for OD was announced during 2023’s Game Awards, giving a brief glimpse of Lillis, Schafer and Kier delivering lines about a hungry purple dinosaur and ending with Lillis screaming as we see the reflection of a door opening in her eye.

That’s everything we know so far about OD. Knowing Kojima, more news will gradually drip through but remain as elusive as ever. Alongside OD, Kojima Productions is also working on Death Stranding 2, he’s certainly being a busy boy. You should also check out the news on some of the other games revealed at The Game Awards, like Lost Records or The Casting of Frank Stone.
