There are lots of obtuse puzzles and secrets in Octopath Traveler 2 that you might struggle with, but few are as confounding as this particular maze-ridden island.

The Lost Isle is - as you can probably see - a bit of a maze. It isn't the most difficult to navigate if you're looking ahead of your own path, but the enemies can be really challenging if you're not at the appropriate level.

There are seven chests on this island in total, giving out some quite significant rewards that you will definitely want to apply to your party members. The items found within the chest are as follows:

  • 4x Ancient Cursed Talisman
  • Blessing in Disguise Amulet
  • Lost Tribe's Dagger
  • Great Sage's Staff

While the two weapons are really strong, especially for lower-level characters, the Blessing in Disguise Amulet is the best of the lot. It lets you turn negative bonuses on your equipment into positive ones, which can create some incredible stat swings to really boost your character.

Reaching the end of The Lost Isle will have you greeted with the following message on a notice board:

"The true path… Free from wickedness and distraction. Thy mind's eye shall be thy guide."

As you can probably tell, this doesn't give you much to go on. It would be very surprising if it didn't leave you stumped, frustratingly wondering what the answer to the puzzle is. But you will find that you have somewhat 'unlocked' the true path in your journey through The Lost Isle.

If you head back to the start of The Lost Isle where the first notice board is, you might now be able to see a sparkling blue path on the left-hand side of the platform.

This is an invisible walkway that you can now take to a hidden platform. If you are unable to see any blue sparkles though, just walk against the left side of the platform until you are able to find the new path.

There will be an NPC on this new path that you can talk to, and they will give you the license for the Arcanist secret job. Unlike the other secret jobs, you are able to upgrade this using JP, so you won't need to find any items or return to The Lost Isle again.

So, that wraps up this guide if you were wondering what to do on The Lost Isle in Octopath Traveler 2. Make sure to check out our guide to learn how to unlock all secret jobs in Octopath Traveler 2 to see the other three not named Arcanist that you might have missed.
