While you can be as flexible as you want with your choices, figuring out what the Octopath Traveler 2 best job combinations are can be your key to success. While each character in Octopath Traveler 2 has their own unique skills, the broader aspects of their skill sets can be transplanted onto other characters in the form of Secondary Jobs.

However, with the sheer amount of different selections you can make, you might be wondering what the best job combinations in Octopath Traveler 2 are. Thankfully we've got you covered with the list below, so read on to find out more.

As mentioned, there aren't necessarily any bad job combinations in Octopath Traveler 2, and some of the best ones for you will be those that cover your specific weaknesses or work best within your own party choices.

However, there are some combinations for each character that you might want to consider if you don't have any other options in mind. Check out the list below for all of the Octopath Traveler 2 best job combinations in our opinion:

Agnea & Dancer Best Job Combination

There are two ways to go for Agnea's best job combination, depending on whether you want to go full support or balance out your kit.

Apothecary

If you want one of the best supporting characters in the game to keep your party buffed and healed, using the Apothecary job on Agnea is the way to go.

Not only do you get great healing opportunities alongside your already strong buffs, but you can also use your Latent Ability to extend these to your whole party - which means that you can focus the rest on damage.

Thief

On the flip side, pairing Agnea with the Thief job can also be very strong if you're wanting a more balanced approach. You will get access to two additional weapon options and a strong set of offensive skills.

Furthermore, the Incidental Attack Support Skill from the Thief job is incredibly strong when using support actions, as it gives you a chance to attack too.

Castti & Apothecary Best Job Combination

It is generally best to keep Castti as a support character, as her healing and Talent make her very strong to keep your party alive.

Merchant

The Merchant job is one of the stronger options for Castti, primarily through the BP and Latent Power enhancing abilities. Boost start gives you an excellent way to open the toughest fights alongside the ability to donate BP to other allies.

Alongside this, the Full Power Support Skill - which refills the Latent Power gauge -  is perfect for Castti, as you will want to be using it as much as you possibly can.

Cleric

If you're wanting the best overall healer in the game though, you can't get much better than pairing Castti with the Cleric job. You get a much broader range of party-wide healing abilities, which pairs well with Castti's excellent single-target healing.

Furthermore, the addition of Light spells can help you out too if there are any enemies with that specific weakness, as it is not as widespread as the other elemental magic.

Hikari & Warrior Best Job Combination

As a Warrior, your best course of action with Hikari is to use jobs that emphasise his physical strength and have him as your primary damage dealer.

Hunter

If you want to cover pretty much all grounds weapons-wise, then pairing Hikari with the Hunter job is the way to go. You will only be missing the Dagger, as the Hunter job will add the Axe and Bow, alongside Lightning as a bonus.

You can also increase your critical hit rates with Take Aim to pile on a recently broken boss, and also use Leghold Trap to ensure that you have enough time to break through a large shield.

Armsmaster

While this is one of the four secret jobs found in the game, there is arguably no better secondary role for Hikari than the Armsmaster. As the name suggests, this job allows you to perfect all of the weapons in the game - making Hikari perfect for every fight.

The only caveat is that you'll have to find the Octopath Traveler 2 rusty weapons in order to unlock the skills, but it is well worth the effort to forge the best damage dealer in the game.

Partitio & Merchant Best Job Combination

The Merchant is one of the few jobs in the game where there are no 'clear' best combinations, and you can generally just use what works best for you and your party. However, there are some solid options - one of which is very fun if you're feeling especially lucky.

Warrior

The main reason for this job combination is to use the Warrior's 'Incite' and 'Vengeful Blade' skills in combination with the Merchant job's 'Sidestep' skill. Incite allow you to draw enemy attacks to yourself for three turns, Vengeful Blade lets you counter physical attacks with a sword for two turns, and Sidestep lets you dodge one attack with a 100% success rate.

As you can see, this is a particularly strong combination for drawing and deflecting aggro, which can deal with tough enemies on your own and let the rest of your party do what they need to do without risk.

Dancer

The combination with the Dancer is already strong due to the Divine Skill 'Sealticge's Seduction' which extends ally skills to all, but we chose this combination for another, far more fun reason.

Using the Merchant's BP boosting Latent Power in combination with the Dancer's 'Bewildering Grace' skill can be absolutely hilarious. While most of the Bewildering Grace effects are beneficial - including a 100x XP boost - you can also be landed with negative effects like reducing your entire party HP to one.

It's the JRPG equivalent of going all in on red at the roulette table and is so enjoyable if you want to spice up your gameplay with some risks.

Ochette & Hunter Best Job Combination

With Ochette's unique capturing skill, we are wanting to use job combinations that compliment this or make her kit more well-rounded.

Thief

This is particularly strong when using Thief's critical boosting skills, which help make use of the high-damage attacks from both jobs. Furthermore, the Hunter's 'Heighten Senses' Support Skill that increases your chance of attacking first is incredibly strong when used with Thief's Surprise Attack, and can result in massive damage.

Furthermore, the Steal ability lets you further inflict misery on your opponents, as you'll mug them for their items before capturing them with your net.

Warrior

The Warrior class is the right choice for Ochette if you're finding her kit a bit too restrictive, or if you don't love using the captured creatures. This will give her two new weapons, and a plethora of strong physical damage skills.

Support Skills like Bolstering Break, Summon Strength, and Deal More Damage all do a lot in helping you enhance your attacks. Using these in combination with the Latent Power can really put a dent in even the toughest bosses.

Osvald & Scholar Best Job Combination

While you could opt for a physical based job to give Osvald a wider range of attacks, we think it best to put an emphasis on his magic, which is shown in our choices found below.

Cleric

Combining the Scholar and Cleric jobs is the obvious choice for a reason, as it gives Osvald a near-complete collection of each element in the game. He will be able to use Fire, Ice, Lighting, and Light magic to exploit weaknesses and deal massive damage.

Furthermore, having a few additional healing options will be great if you feel like you need more damage in your party, as it could forego the necessity of a pure healer if you play your cards right.

Arcanist

Arguably the best option for Osvald though is the Arcanist secret job. This particular job gives you a wide selection of offensive and supportive magic skills, and also introduces both Dark and Light into the mix to extend his arsenal.

It also gives you the opportunity to restore HP and SP with your elemental attacks, which is extremely useful in tight situations where you might not have the additional turns needed to both replenish your party and do damage.

Temenos & Cleric Best Job Combination

Temenos is a bit of a chameleon, in the way that his skill set can blend really well into pretty much all of the jobs. As he is not a primary healer or mage, you can do a lot to enhance whatever aspect of his kit that you want.

Warrior

The key to succeeding with Temenos and the Warrior job is the Judgement Latent Power, which lets you lower enemy shield points when using any attack.

This is particularly useful when using something like Aggressive Slash which hits three times, alongside Vengeful Blade to ensure that tough bosses can be broken incredibly quickly.

Inventor

Perhaps an unconventional choice, but the Octopath Traveler 2 Inventor Secondary Job is a particularly strong choice for Temenos. It is the jack-of-all-trades option, giving you a collection of skills that cover pretty much every boost or attack in the game.

Using this on Temenos lets him be a lock pick of sorts to all fights, making him an invaluable member of your party that you won't want to leave out.

Throné & Thief Best Job Combination

Finally, we land on Throné, who has one of the strongest skill sets in the game - especially when you consider her Latent Power which allows you to act twice in a single turn.

Dancer

The Dancer job seems like a perfect fit for Throné if you want to play her more as a support character. The 'Incidental Attack' Support Skill is fantastic when using non-damaging skills as it gives you a chance to attack as well.

Use this with both Throné Latent Power which lets you act twice in a single turn and the Dancer's Divine Skill 'Sealticge's Seduction' which extends the effects to the whole party, and you can give incredibly powerful buffs to your whole party.

Warrior

To no one's surprise, the Warrior job appears again, and it works just as well with Throné's skill set too. Having the ability to use the high damage skills twice in a single turn is great both for breaking bosses with high Shield Points, and also taking advantage of enemies when they're broken.

Furthermore, combining the 'Vengeful Blade' Warrior skill with Thief's 'Ensnare' Support Skill will have you dealing both reflective damage and debuffs to the enemy when you're attacked. This means that even when your back is against the wall you're still a threat, and that could be the difference between overcoming a tough boss and falling at the final hurdle.

So, that wraps up this guide for the best job combinations in Octopath Traveler 2, but don't let yourself be limited by our choices, and feel free to explore your own.
