Here's how you can farm XP & level up quickly in Octopath Traveler 2
Here's our guide about farming XP and leveling up fast in Octopath Traveler 2, the newest RPG from Square Enix. Follow our guide and earn levels in no time.
How to farm XP
The best way to farm XP is by finding Cait. This is a monster that occasionally appears in the wild, and if you can kill it you'll gain a truckload of XP. You'll get even more from tougher variants like the Chubby Cait.
They're very hard to find, and even harder to kill if you don't know how. Your attacks will often miss, and they tend to flee before you get a chance to defeat them.
You'll also want to use the Hunter skill More Rare Monsters as this will increase the chance of encountering a rare enemy. They can appear just about anywhere in the wild at a random time, so be prepared.
Killing a Cait will reward you with over 1000 XP, which can be boosted to around 2000 with the Thief skill Life in the Shadows.
Cait strategies
Cait are weak to swords, daggers, axes and staffs. However, there's a good chance your regular attacks will not hit these weak points. To get around this, you can unleash a load of Soulstones or other powerful magical skills to deal damage to them.
It's important to have skills that give your characters more speed if you're on the hunt for Cait. Heighten Senses and Fleetfoot are good abilities to have, as you can potentially surprise the enemy and attack first.
Additionally, you can also pick up Cait Powder which will increase your Cait encounters. It can be found in Tropu'hopu from a chest in a house. You'll know the house by finding a woman outside it who loves cats - though you may have to knock her out or put her to sleep to get in the house.
You can also get a lot of XP from Octopuff Travelers. These enemies have a similar item associated with them, Octopuff Pot, which can be acquired from a fisherman in Conning Creek. They appear more often on the water.
