League of Legends esports is hotting up once again, and after a 2022 campaign that saw veterans collide and scripts be ripped up, the 2023 season is filled with vengeance and desire. In each corner of the League of Legends universe, teams are gearing up for their conquest to hoist the Summoners Cup, and the group stages are already throwing some eye-brow-raising results. But before we consider any notion of Worlds, the Spring Splits will conclude with another global event, with MSI 2023 bringing together the best of the best.

So, with League of Legends MSI 2023 beckoning, here's all you need to know about the format, schedule, and teams.

Where would League of Legends MSI 2023 take place?

Big Ben is calling League of Legends players around the globe as MSI 2023 is headed to London.

For the first time in LoL esports history, an official S-Tier tournament is heading to the United Kingdom, home of teams such as Excel and Fnatic.

MSI 2023 will be held in the Copper Box Arena, in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, seating roughly 7,000 fans. Most recently, it was the home of the Apex Legends Global Series Split 1 Playoffs and the Rocket League Spring Split Major.

The Copper Box will host MSI 2023 between May 2 and May 21, where the Play-In Stage will be followed by the Bracket Stage and Grand Final.

MSI 2023 Tickets

Tickets go on sale for MSI 2023, London, as of 10 am GMT, February 23.

There will be tickets for all stages of the event, ranging between £24 and £94.

You will be able to purchase tickets for MSI 2023 here when they go live, and Mastercard owners will also get a chance to enter a two-day early pre-sale.

League of Legends MSI 2023 Format

This year, MSI 2023 will be pivoting its format slightly, with the addition of two more teams, taking the tally from 11 to 13.

Previously, the format would include three stages (Groups, Rumble, and Knockout), where the 11 teams would play a minimum of six games, and a maximum of 20.

This year, MSI 2023 will change to a two-stage tournament, featuring a Play-In and Bracket Stage.

The Play-In stage will be a double-elimination bracket where games will be a best-of-five scenario, featuring the bottom eight seeds out of the 13 teams.

The top three teams from this stage will then progress to play the top five-seeded teams from around the globe in the Bracket Stage.

The Bracket Stage will also be double elimination.

League of Legends MSI 2023 Teams

There will be 13 teams competing at MSI 2023, two more than usual. The top teams from the LCK, LCS, LEC, and LPL's respective Spring Splits will qualify, and the top seeds from LJL, LLA, VCS, PCS, and CBLOL will make up the other five slots.

The top five seeded teams that will advance straight to the Bracket Stage will be the winners of the LCK, LCS, LEC, and LPL Spring Playoffs, and the runner-up in LCK, who are awarded both spots after boasting the 2022 World Championship winning organization.

Teams will be decided in their upcoming Playoffs throughout February and will be updated here accordingly.

League of Legends MSI 2023 Schedule

The schedule for League of Legends MSI 2023 has only been announced as a rough guideline for now, with a full draw expected to come closer to the time when the full team list has been decided.

An outline for the MSI 2023 schedule is as follows:

  • The Play-In Stage will be May 2-7
  • The Bracket Stage will be May 9-14 and May 16-20
  • The Grand Final will be on May 21

With MSI serving as a benchmark for teams to sus out their Worlds competition and earn a hefty prize in the meantime, you can expect to see quite a show at the Copperbox Arena in May.
