Are you looking for the best Clodsire Greninja Tera Raid build in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players are readying themselves for the game’s latest massive challenge in the form of a new 7-star Tera Raid boss: a Poison Tera-type Greninja. Amongst the handful of ideal Pokemon counters, let’s get into the best Clodsire Greninja Tera Raid build in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Greninja is already a speedy attacker, capable of both high Attack and SP. Atk builds. What’s more, with Greninja’s Tera type being Poison instead of its standard dual Dark and Water typing, players will also need to take an alternative array of strengths and weaknesses into account.

To that effect, Clodsire is a solid tank that ticks both of these boxes at once. The best Clodsire Greninja build for the 7-star Tera Raid is as follows:

  • Ability: Water Absorb
  • Nature: Modest
  • Tera Type: Ground
  • Hold Item: Metronome
  • EVs: 252 HP, 252 Sp. Atk, 6 Def
  • Moveset: Acid Spray, Earth Power, Recover, Stockpile

Out of Clodsire’s two non-hidden abilities, Water Absorb is by far the best and crucial to this Greninja Tera Raid. If you acquire a Clodsire or starting Paldean Wooper, you’ll need to use an Ability Capsule or Ability Patch to switch abilities - or catch/breed another one altogether until you do.

Strategy

The 7-Star Greninja could have a build focused on Attack, SP. Atk, or both. So, that’s why it’s ideal to not only invest the first 252 of Clodsire’s Evs into HP, but also make sure to use Stockpile the max of three times to boost its Defence and SP. Def as much as possible to cover all bases in damage resistance.

Recover is there as a backup as well, restoring any HP Greninja chips away in the meantime.

Whilst Greninja is more of a high-speed attacker than a tank, the fact that it’s a 7-star raid boss will still make chipping away at its HP a difficult task. That’s where Acid Spray comes in by lowering Greninja’s Sp. Def to hit it hard with Earth Power.

As this Clodsire Greninja Tera Raid build's only attacking move, Earth Power is a strong and reliable weapon with 90 base power and 100 accuracy. Super-effective against Greninja’s Poison Tera Type, Earth Power is made even more of a deadly move when paired with this build’s Hold Item, Metronome.

Boosting the power of a move by 20% for each consecutive turn it's used, up to 100%, this Clodsire build utilises Earth Power for instrumental potential in damage at its best. Thanks to its additional tank capabilities, and this Clodsire’s Modest nature boosting its Sp. Atk even further, you’ll have one of the best Greninja raid counters possible.
