A Twitch streamer, known as "Doaenel", has been banned from the platform indefinitely for having an "inappropriate username."

When it comes to making sure its content creators are sticking to the rules, Twitch isn't pulling any punches. Whether it's cracking down on streamers breaking DMCA rules, making "racist" comments, or even shaving their genitals live on camera for the whole world to see, Twitch has been rolling out various bans and strikes in recent times.

Now, Doaenel has subsequently been banned from the Amazon-owned platform for having an "inappropriate" username, despite using it since he started on Twitch in 2019.

When Was Doaenel Banned From Twitch?

On February 6, Doaenel announced that he had been banned indefinitely from Twitch. The streamer announced the news through a screenshot of an email he had received from the company notifying him of the move. The reason why was because he had - in Twitch's eyes - an "inappropriate username."

The move proved highly controversial on social media as fans debated whether or not the ban should be revoked. Many called out Twitch for being "soft" and that Doaenel’s username seems like a strange reason to be banned. One annoyed fan said: "Twitch really is the worst website to stream on. If u do anything [you] might get banned for it and they don't even directly tell [you] what u did wrong."

However, the reaction was fairly different over on the Livestream Fails subreddit. Some poked fun at the fact that Doaenel had no idea how controversial his username was. Others were shocked that having an "inappropriate username" was the reason he was banned in the first place, referring to the time he landed himself in hot water for allegedly 'harassing girls with in-game chat.'

Did Doaenel Know His Name Was Controversial?

On his Twitter page, Doaenal claimed that his username has "absolutely NOTHING to do with anal." In fact, he claimed it was actually his "real angel name" which he had discovered through a wordy process.

Although Doaenel seemed upset about the ban, he swore that his fans haven’t heard the last of him. Leaving them with a determined message, Doaenel stated: "Even though I am banned on Twitch, I won't give up. I failed you once, I won't fail you again."
