Toast Slams 'Misogynistic' Twitch Fans After Pokimane DMCA Strike

Jeremy "Disguised Toast" Wang has jumped to the defence of his good friend Imane "Pokimane" Anys after she received a great deal of hate online following her Twitch ban. Toast claimed that people saw her ban as an excuse to be "sexist" and "misogynistic" towards her.

Pokimane has been a hot topic of conversation across the internet after she received her first ever ban from Twitch after watching Avatar: The Last Airbender. During her 48 hour ban, Pokimane found herself on the receiving end of a load of hate from trolls. Sadly, this isn’t the first time Pokimane has had to deal with sexist attacks from haters. But, with her being unable to access her Twitch channel, it was up to her fellows to defend her.

One of her friends who stepped up to the plate was Disguised Toast, who clapped back at some who, he claimed, took the opportunity to attack Pokimane with "misogynistic" comments.

What Did Toast Say To Defend Pokimane From 'Misogynistic' Twitch Fans?

Speaking during one of his streams on January 13, Toast claimed: "I feel really sorry for Poki. I mean not for her being banned or DMCA's strike because that was a risk everyone took, but more just people using this as a reason to sh*t on her beyond DMCA." He claimed that after he revealed that he had been banned for a month (more on that in a second) people questioned why Pokimane didn't receive a longer ban.

Some fans then took the opportunity to throw misogynistic comments in Pokimane’s way, as Toast stated: "They said stuff like 'well it’s because Poki has boobs and toast doesn’t and women suck d*cks'. It became a reason to be misogynistic and sexist, for no reason." He also touched upon the fact that these critics didn't say anything against Matthew "Mizkif" Rinaudo, who was also livestreaming Avatar: The Last Airbender, similarly to Pokimane, and yet didn't receive a ban. As Toast claimed: "When Poki got banned and Mizkif didn’t, none of these people were saying sh*t, so what I realised was that this whole thing was just a reason for people to sh*t on her[…] I feel bad for her, I’m really sorry she had to deal with that."

Was Toast Banned For A Month?

Okay, we hold our hands up. We got it wrong. Turns out that Toast’s ban didn’t last for a whole month, rather just 48 hours, similarly to Pokimane. However, we weren’t the only ones. Toast was seemingly banned for watching the final episode of the Japanese Anime TV show Deathnote and then took to Twitter to say that he would 'see us all in a month'. So, many, including us, took his words literally and reported that it would be a whole month before Toast would be allowed back onto Twitch. However, it turns out that this was not the case, and it was only 48 hours before Toast’s Twitch channel was up and running again. However, in his stream, he claimed that he "understood" why people took his tweet for the truth.

Sadly, this is yet just another example of a female streamer being harassed and attacked by misogynistic trolls. However, if Pokimane isn't able to deal with them herself, she has her friends beside her ready to rally up support.
