Sony Santa Monica is flexing its muscles, as we wrap up for another winter warmer with God of War Ragnarok. Even though FromSoftware's Elden Ring looked like it would rule the roost as 2022's biggest game, God of War Ragnarok is here to challenge this year's other big fantasy epic.
Given that 2018's God of War was the best-selling PS4 game of all time and went on to make Sony a small fortune as a first-party exclusive, there's a lot riding on Ragnarok to outshine its big brother. The idea behind a God of War Ragnarok PS5 bundle might sound amazing on paper, but trust us, don't get your hopes up.
What Is The PS5 God Of War Bundle?
Sony has been promoting the God of War Ragnarok PS5 bundle, and if you want to know what's inside... it's not a lot. Coming alongside the Ragnarok release on November 9, it includes a disc version of the PS5, a copy of Ragnarok, and the classic DualSense controller.
The bundle was shown off in the "next-gen immersion" trailer, which ended with the big reveal. Weirdly, it has the disc PS5 but a digital version of Ragnarok. Also, the trailer included a Pulse 3D headset that isn't included. There's no price right now, but we imagine it'll cost similar to what it would to buy a PS5 and digital Ragnarok separately. We guess the only benefit is that you know you'll be able to sit down and play the game on your shiny PS5 on November 9.
As a final insult to gamers, there's no sign of that glossy Ragnarok-themed controller that was doing the rounds and looks like a great piece of kit. We'd at least have expected some sort of Ragnarok-themed console. Considering Xbox has rolled out collaborative consoles for everything from Far Cry 6 to Halo Infinite, this thinly-veiled GoW cash grab is little more than an insult.
Fans React To God Of War Ragnarok PS5 Bundle
The God of War Ragnarok PS5 bundle was quickly ripped to pieces by disgruntled gamers. One wrote, "We wanted a limited edition GOW PS5 like the Halo Xbox last year. Not another regular PS5 bundled with a piece of paper code. Stop with these please." Another added, "You know y'all should of designed the cover to have the GOW symbol at least. It's just a PS5 with Ragnarök code inside," while a third simply concluded, "This bundle seems cheap and lazy."

We've already reported on how Sony has ramped up PS5 production for Ragnarok. Since the PS5 launched in 2020, the industry has been inundated with supply problems and sold-out signs across the board. Then again, there was a small thing called a global pandemic getting in the way. Even though it's great news that more PS5s are on the way, it's a shame there isn't even a hint of Kratos theming with this bundle. "Boi," we're disappointed.
