Twitch streaming can involve long and exhausting days creating content for fans. Sodapoppin recently opened about how he took Adderall to cope with the pressure, which subsequently lead to addiction.

Being a streamer can have many advantages and, from an outsider's perspective, can seem pretty idyllic. However, in recent times many streamers have used their platform to highlight how this career path can have a huge toll on their mental health. Some streamers have even go on to share the potentially dangerous methods they used in order to meet demand.

Adding his voice to the discussion, Chance "Sodapoppin" Morris has shared his own experience with an Adderall addiction, which was prompted by the many hours he spent streaming when he was younger.

How Old Was Sodapoppin When He Was Addicted To Adderall?

While streaming a playthrough of Dead By Daylight, Sodapoppin claimed that he was addicted to Adderall in 2015 when he would have been around 21 years old. The streamer first set up a Twitch account back in 2012 and soon gained fame through his World of Warcraft playthroughs. Then, in 2014 and 2015, Sodapoppin was mainly streaming blackjack gambling on casino websites. While he enjoyed a great deal of success bagging a whopping amount of cash, he also faced some disasters. For example, in May, 2015, (at the time he claims he was addicted to Adderall) Sodapoppin lost $5000 in front of 43,000 his viewers

However, the pressures of streaming can reach boiling point at any age and at any time. For example, Seth "Scump" Abner opened up about the mental health challenges he faced in his career at the age of 26. Whereas, Justin "Jstn" Morales announced that he was dropping out of the Intel World Open after sharing how his mental health had also deteriorated in the lead-up to the match.

What Did Sodapoppin Say About His Adderall Addiction?

During his Twitch stream, a fan asked Sodapoppin about his experiences with Adderall to which he said: "It got to a point where I didn’t rely on food or sleep. I was fuelled by Adderall, entirely. Everything I did was based around when I’d get it next." He declared he had to 'build his life around' the drug, which is a combination of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, during a time when he was streaming for 24 hours a day. He claims he even took Adderall while live on stream.

He explained that the effect of Adderall makes you "hyper-focused on one thing, and it’s whatever you’re doing when the Adderall hits you." For example, on one occasion the drug hit while he was organising the icons on his desktop, so subsequently spent "three hours" organising his desktop icons live in front of his fans. He stated: "It was the worst stream I've ever done."

Sodapoppin's fans rushed to his support and praised him for being so open about his experiences with his Adderall addiction. Thankfully, he has now nipped his addiction in the bud and has drastically reduced how many hours a day he spends streaming on Twitch. Not only did this appear to improve Sodapoppin's health but also did nothing to undermine his popularity because, as of writing, he holds an incredible 3.2 million followers on Twitch.
