Imane "Pokimane" Anys is staying on Twitch. Although fans speculated that the streamer would be heading on over to the red corner (i.e. YouTube), Pokimane has officially confirmed she won't be saying "goodbye purple brick road" any time soon.

Since setting herself up on Twitch in 2013, Pokimane has just gone from strength to strength, working her way up the ranks to become one of the most popular female streamers on the Amazon-owned platform. As of writing, the 25-year-old has 8.9 million followers on Twitch. Then again, Pokimane's also gained an impressive audience count over on YouTube with 6.71 million subscribers.

So, when Pokimane announced that her Twitch contract had come to an end on January 31, 2022, fans questioned whether she might consider signing exclusively with YouTube. However, Pokimane has quelled those rumours and announced that she has renewed her contract with Twitch.

When Did Pokimane Announce She Was Staying With Twitch?

Before her short break from streaming, Pokimane teased that there was a "platform announcement" coming our way on February 8, much to the excitement of fans. Keeping true to her word, Pokimane announced on that very day via Twitter that she was staying with Twitch. Wearing a purple top and signing off the tweet with a purple heart, Pokimane revealed that "as always" her comeback stream would be premiering on Twitch, certifying that her contract with Twitch had been renewed.

Previously, fans questioned whether Pokimane would join the list of big-name former Twitch streamers who have moseyed on over to YouTube.

For example, Ludwig "Ludwig" Ahgren, whose explosive announcement video quickly became a hit with the streaming community thanks to its 'purple car vs. red car' analogy. Not to mention the classic "not in this car" line. Since then, a number of famous faces, such as Pokimane's close friend Rachel "Valkyrae" Hofstetter, have poked fun at the video in their subsequent "platform announcement" videos.

Pokimane also followed suit in her announcement tweet by saying that "instead of choosing between a red or purple car" she was actually "giving one away." A brand-new Tesla, to be precise. For fans who are hoping to get their hands on the new set of wheels, Pokimane said: "Giveaway details will be posted in the next few days."

Why Did Pokimane Stay With Twitch?

Speaking about her exciting announcement in her comeback stream back on Twitch, Pokimane explained just why she decided to stay with Twitch rather than move to YouTube. The streamer stated: "The reason I chose Twitch over YouTube is just because I can't get enough of that good, good Twitch chat. You guys, right there [...] sometimes not, some of you wiling a little bit, but it's genuinely because of you guys."

Pokimane did state that "YouTube has come a long way," but it feels more catered to content creators who already have a steady following on the platform. Clearly still in love with her life over on Twitch, Pokimane claimed: "There is just no community like the Twitch community."
